Blazers Basketball, More than just a game

When you picture a Blazer what do you think of?
Great skills? Team leader? Potential to score? Potential to win in the league?

To me the choice is clear. When I think of a Blazer I envision a player with a love of the game, a player with strong moral values. One who see's beyond the game and understands what is truly important...Morals.

If there is one thing that has been consistent in every Blazer it has been morals. The understanding that basketball is more than a game, more than competition. It is the opportunity to present what is important in life, Others.
In a world where there are those who are less fortunate you can count on Blazer players to understand that they are blessed to be where they are, as Jamal Crawford said in Jason Quick's article in the Oregonian " I want to be known as a great ball player, but it's more important for me to be known as a good person"
After being in Portland for less than 48 hours Crawford is already a standing expression of what it is to be a Blazer.

In a 2011-2012 season that promises to be entertaining we as Blazer fans are honored to be a part of a franchise who's cornerstone is built around the understanding that Basketball is more than a game.

As every year goes by the fans, the team, the organization grows stronger. Not with only with the hopes of victory, but with the hopes of making the world a better, happier place.

If there is one thing I am going to take away from this season it is not going to be that the team makes for a happier city, but rather a happier world. A world that needs to give thanks to those who deserve it.
