Asik or...... Bringing back the Thrilla!?

By slyda34
Everyone keeps talking about Asik, and don't get me wrong, but who would we trade to get him? I guarantee it will take some draft picks, but what else do we have? Personally, I like what Myers brings to the table, and with the shot blocking of Withey, I think we could be solid if we bring in the right veteran mentoring (say in the form of.... The Thrilla), someone to show them what it means to play tough, set screens, rebound, and protect the rim. He knows his offensive role, and only takes shots when needed (we have enough scorers on the starting 5), and I believe Leonard has the potential to have a pretty good offensive game. However, until then, we need these Centers of the future, to protect the paint NOW! And to do it forcefully. I believe that Pryzbilla would be the perfect player to come here and do that. He loves Portland (which is rare for free agents for some reason), we can get him on the cheap (i say a two year deal, first one guaranteed and maybe team option on second), and either use the money to get more bench players for this year, or save it for next years free agent free for all and draft. Thoughts? Thanks for reading this y'all,  it's my first entry, and hope to do more. Being a disabled veteran, and die hard Blazer fan, I got a lot of time on my hands.

  1. I've always loved the Vanilla Gorilla Pryzbilla, but Stotts wants to run and as much as i like Pryz he may not be able to keep up with the gazelles we now have on the squad. He'd certainly be a great big man coach though.

  2. True, that might be a problem. But compared to all these players they keep talking about bringing in (kaman, Asik, Dalembert), I think Pryz would be just as good at keeping up as those guys, but he would be way better than them at teaching these youngsters what it means to set a real screen, and how to pass out of the post, and defend. I know long term he's not ideal, but in comparison to names being thrown out now, I think he's one of the best.
