Cavs actively shooping no.1 pick

By CamCripps3
As most Blazer fans know by now, the Cavs proposed a deal to Portland which would send LaMarcus Aldridge to Cleveland for the 1st and 19th picks in the upcoming NBA Draft. A deal which most Blazers fans quickly said NO!

In such a weak draft where lottery picks may not have the same value compared to previous drafts, many teams are in serious talks to move up in the draft or willing to give up their picks to add current players to their roster.

Portland and Minnesota have heavily indicated their intentions to possibly move up in the draft and ultimately Cleveland have listened, but failed. Along with the failed offer from Cleveland regarding All-Star F LaMarcus Aldridge, the Cavs have reached out to the Wolves with a reasonable deal to lure Kevin Love to Cleveland. Tristan Thompson, Dion Waiters and the number 1 pick were offered but was later rejected by Minnesota.

These two proposals over the past 48 hours say a few things. Cleveland are really interested to shop the number 1 pick and some vital players, but are seriously chasing a star player. Meanwhile the Blazers are happy to flirt with the 10th pick, but are looking for the right deal. Basically not willing to give up Aldridge, who has never said he wants to leave.

I do not see any major deal happening before or on draft day, however moving up a few spots in the draft would not surprise me.

  1. hey Cam, your guess is as good as mine, but i've been saying for a while, i think we're going to trade this pick. whether is be up or down a few draft spots or for a veteran guy who can step in for the short-term. a couple weeks ago, i was at about 80 percent sure of that. however, now i'm down to 67 percent on it. i don't see much happening in the next couple of days to change that.

honestly, i don't see us making a deal for LaMarcus this year. if we made a deal of some sort, i think it happens next summer or at the 2015 trade deadline. on the other hand, we might just extend his contract. the bottom line is, we don't get better with what the Cavaliers are offering so i say stand pat.

  2. Hey Kass, I think there is a high chance we do something with our pick, but personally I feel we make a minor move. Cleveland's offer loses value in a draft like this, so overall I do not see any major moves happening involving Portland.
