6th man?

By riverman
Nate Robinson has made some heads rise after his stellar, gutsy play for the Bulls in the Heat series. He played like a 6 man of the year candidate. Scored in bunches, even blocked a LeBron layup. Apparently coach Thom Thibideau (sp?) has done wonders to Nate's pt guard play. He's actually a very, very small shooting guard. He passed really well and can create his shot. He played for the vet minimum which was a lot of bang for Chicago's buck. He's also a free agent. He's not a bad fit coming off the Blazers bench that sorely needs scoring and energy. He's not expensive. One sportscaster said today that he's a perfect fit for the Blazers going forward. What do you guys think? The idea is growing on me.

  1. Nate is tough to gauge he is too small to be an effective defender, but he can be a dynamic scorer. However, after watching put up a 0 in game 4 I am off the bandwagon at the moment.

  2. I think he tired out at the end as did Noah and a lot of guys but Nate really put the team on his back with Rose out. He got them to the second round. He's an energy guy who's improved a whole lot in Chicago. Bulls impressed me in the series over all. I like players that have gone to the Chicago-San Antonio schools of defense. Always a good thing. Even Bellineli has had a career year.

  3. I like the thought process but Nate is no floor general he is a head down get out of the way JR Smith like shooter. Barton's game reminds me a lot of Robinson, while they can look dynamic at times they also often come across as reckless. Nate would have been perfect for us last year when we had no bench and he could have just ran wild but assuming we add more depth this summer I would prefer Maynor's pass first style backing up Lillard.

  4. Larkin is the next hybrid Nate. He's a little bigger,5'11" 44 max vert and a stand still 35" or 36" i forget, jumps out the building and shoots a higher percentage. Plays a big boy pants kind of game and would be a great 3rd stringer behind Maynor.
I still think that had we had had a strong 2 guard making things happen that we might had still been formidable opponents in the first round. Despite our lackluster bench and being ousted in the first round,we might have become better for it. My thoughts are still the same, buy a big, draft a sg with a Lillard like poise, use one of our picks to draft a sleeper big and guard, and lets finally see what E. Will has, and make good decisions. I like our chances.
