Memphis Grizzlies and Portland Trailblazers

Who remembers the old Memphis Grizzlies?? The team that was a lottery team. 4 years ago they had 24-58 record. Then the next year they were 40-42. Then they reached the playoffs for the first time in a while with a 46-36 record. Now the Grizz are considered one of the top teams in the West.

What does this have to with the Blazers you might say? Well last year the Blazers were 28-38. That was a season (not as bad) but can be compared to Memphis's 24-58 record. There next season was 40-42. This is record is around what many compare to Blazers will have this year. That is not terrible, our record might be better than that. Then Memphis had a 46-36 record, they were the 8th seed in the playoffs. This is what Blazers record this season should look like.

Then MEM last season they had a break-out season. They had a 41-25 season. There w/ ratio was .621 which is a big improvement from there .561 season the year before. They were a 4th in the west in the Playoffs.

The point im trying to make is that, it might take 2-3 seasons but we can be the new Grizzlies and be a home court playoff team in the West. Be patient, it might take a couple seasons but I believe the Blazers will make it.

  1. Excellent perspective! I think ur comparison is spot on :) Absolutely on the patience; this is what I've been saying & if u, me, & others can get this into the Blazer collective... I think we're gonna have awesome support for our guys, realistic expectations, AND when WE become elite again (which WILL happen but will b a few seasons; this is NOT much time ppl! ;), it's just gonna b so much sweeter! :)

    I hate it when people think were going to be in the lottery for the next 5 years. Or when people think were going to win the championship this year. All that matters is that the Blazers are getting better everyday.

  3. I hope we get a top lottery pick this year. Then we will be in a position to be a contender in the west for many seasons to come. I would love us to win a championship this year but I think realistically we will finish #10 in the west.

  4. I dont think there is any chance our draft pick is in the top 8. ONLY if Batum, or LA gets hurt. I see the worst season we can have is around a 42-42 season. Which would get us around the 9-12 pick.
