New Owner or Go All Out?

By mbmurr1 Posted in: Blazers
I have nothing against Paul Allen in fact quite the opposite the man has great taste. I love his boat and his basketball team, I just wish he would either spend money on players like Mikhail Prokhorov has or sell the team to someone who will. I don't know who that person or group would be, but to compete with the Heat, Lakers, Thunder or Nets then one of two things has to happen #1 the draft has to start working in our favor or #2 exorbitant amounts of money must be spent on players in order to compete. Look at the Olympic team, any team can win a single game but in a best 4 of 7 or probably a 2 of 3 there are no teams in the world who can stand against the USA. The Blazers need to be in the image of the USA Olympic team in my opinion, go over the cap and buy the fans and yourself a title. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

  1. I don't think anyone in the NW can possibly spend like Paul Allen's spending right now. Keep in mind that our roster has been one of the most expensive ones for the duration of his ownership. Portland has actually paid second most luxury tax out of all teams since the expansion, only behind by Dallas Mavericks.

There still are lots of bills he's gotta pay for the team that we often forget about. Nate McMillan's contract still has about $ 3 million owed to him, and Rich Cho is due the 2nd and 3rd year salary buyout. Brandon Roy's amnestied contract is all coming out of Paul Allen's pocket (minus what Minnesota is paying him). I know he's a very wealthy man, but that right there is also a huge sum of money. You know he kinda wants to keep this team next to his Seahawks in Seattle, but we still got it to ourselves thanks to him.

  2. He need a second owner and that should be Bill GATES he will be a good owner and we would never have to be concerned about space caps, i bet we would attract many star player for cheap money

  3. No offense to Mr. Allen, but more money was spent on a yacht then on the Blazers and Seahawks combined over the last year and Nate and Rich were directly his decisions. B-Roy was an unfortunate situation for everyone. From a fans perspective I would like to see us win no matter the cost, when you have as much money as Mr. Allen has, it would be difficult to spend even the majority of it without that spending making him more money.

P.S. I would love to see Bill join Paul as his partner (it worked before).
