Damian Lillards Rookie Expectations

By Siccolo
Everyone must be excited about the Blazers new "Franchise Point Guard"
Here are some of the point guards taken around the same area Damian Lillard was taken.

Brandon Jennings---15pts 5 assists 3 reb
Kemba Walker-----12 pts  4 assists 3 reb
Stephen Curry-----17 pts  6 ast  4 reb
Jonny Flynn ------- 13 pts   4 ast  2 reb

This is there stats they had there rookie year. Which player do you think will resemble Damian Lillards rookie stats??

14 points 4 ast 3 reb is the average for rookies drafted from point guards drafted during the 6-8 range.

  2. I would say 17 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds...exactly Steph Curry-like numbers. Maybe even higher. He's not only going to be starting but also will be relied upon to do the bulk of the scoring.

  3. Yeah I agree with Dhawes. Maybe a little less points though because I doubt theres that many points to go around. Not many starting line ups with that much scoring.

MY BLOG IS ON THE FRONT PAGE !!!!! This is soooooo awesome!!!!

  4. Damian's play making ability will allow our guys to get open, so his assist total should be at least six assist a game, probably higher. Damian's a decent rebounding guard so 3 rebounds a game shouldn't be out of reach. His scoring, while terrific he'll be asked to be the third or fourth option. However, in time I see Damian with the potential of a number one option. He has the "it" factor. 13-15 pts per a game rookie yr.

  5. I expect him to have a 15 point, 5 assist, 3 rebound, and 1 steal per game . I hope that is enough to get the ROY award. I just notice it the same as Brandon Jennings

  6. I can see him avg 15 and 5 and grow after some time in the league.
Maybe he can go 15 and 5 to 18 and 7. Maybe in a couple years he can one day avg 20 and 8. One day lol

  9. I think Anthony Davis is a bust and Lilard is only contender after that for ROY and Lilard is going to have a 25 and 8 season in his career with 5 rebounds that is a MVP season, so i think Damian is a MVP worthy in the future

  10. @ DamianLil[L]ard, u might b right about Davis (I haven't watched him play @ all) but chances r ur not ;) I'm glad u feel that way about Damian (I hope ur right) but... it's WAY too early to tell; @ least wait until he's actually played 1 NBA game (I think Damian will b special too but summer league can b fool's gold @ the VERY least, I think he'll b a good NBA player ;) b4 making such a statement; otherwise, it just makes u look like an absolute homer. I may look like a homer but I try not to b 1 ;)

  11. DAVIS is the next Marcus Camby not KG, Damian is the next Russell Westbrook/Steve Nash(IN HIS PRIME) not Bayless. the problem was Bayless never got it started because of Brandon Roy and he never proved it when he came out of college. So Damain will have a career that many will forget about Michael Jordan career.

  12. No way Davis busts. He was nearly every single individual award in college along with the NCAA Tournament championship. He is arguably the most decorated Freshman in college basketball history. It should be a great 1-2 race between Lillard and Davis for ROY this upcoming season.

  13. Bayless never took off because he never really found his niche. He was an okay shooter and good attacker but he made rash decisions on offence and wasnt a true point guard. Damian has a good head on his shoulder and will have a great NBA career.

I have never seen Anthony Davis play a game lol. As I said not much of a college guy. Dont know what his strengths on offense are. I know he is very athletic and a excellent defender. Can see him getting 10 rebounds and 2-3 blocks. Not sure what kind of offense he has.
