Illasova and Hickson

If it is possible I would like to see Portland try to sign Illasova and Hickson to 4 and 5 year deals respectively as soon as possible and before signing anyone else. I would like to see us sign Hibbert but if we do then why did we pick Leonard with the #11 pick in the draft? It would be nice to put off any decision on Batum till after dealing with other matters but I don't see that happening, I think Nick will be in a different uniform for the next few seasons. I think we should try to sign Thabeet to a minimum contract for 3+ years as well as Flynn. I don't want to just contend next year ( either go to the finals or lose big, mediocrity is not an option ) as the free agent class looks even stronger at the top then this year. Any thoughts?

  1. Rookie centers like Meyers Leonard are going to pick up 3 fouls in about 3 minutes first season playing against veteran post players. Pryzbilla is foul prone. We go for an allstar young veteran center to win games and mentor the rookie. LaMarcus is no rookie and needs allstar calliber help in the post. It's a great move! I've been wanting Ilyasova since the last trade deadline. He's one of the most improved players last season in the league and has the whole skillset. Rebounds, passes, defends and shoots well. Also unselfish. I'd rather pass on Thabeet personally.
