The inaugural recipient of the Trail Blazers Fan of the Week honor is Cory Minick, aka cmeese47. Whether it’s in the
message boards, commenting on the
Bloggers Network, or participating in the live
trailblazers.tv broadcasts, Cory’s always stirring up the debate wherever he goes. And he knows his basketball, too. Even as a basketball junkie, I found myself routinely asking Cory questions about Player Efficiency Ratings, salary cap scenarios, and his opinions about certain players. To get to know a little bit more about the user behind the handle, here's the Rip City Rundown with cmeese47, including his
2012 Mock Draft:
How long have you been a Trail Blazers fan?
Been a fan since I could really remember probably around 1988.
How did you become a Trail Blazers fan?
They were the local team and my grandma loved them plus who couldn't be a fan of Clyde Drexler
What was your favorite moment as a Trail Blazers fan?
Favorite moment was Roy's huge 4th quarter effort to lead the playoff comeback against the Mav's went from worst game ever to be best game ever. Plus went to Spring Beer and Wine fest with hundreds of happy Blazer fans quite a nice experience.
Who is your current favorite Trail Blazer?
My favorite current Blazer is Lamarcus Aldridge, I loved seeing him step up in Roy's absence and become one of the top 20 players in the NBA. Of course with that my expectations of him are on another level.
Who is your all-time favorite Trail Blazer?
Clyde Drexler. He was the Blazers to me; I loved watching him battle Jordan and the Bad Boy Pistons. Watching him dunk on people was one of my favorite pastimes as a youth.
The Greatest Trail Blazer of All-Time: Clyde Drexler or Bill Walton?
Drexler based mostly on health and longevity
The Pinwheel: Push it upright or let in lean?
Either is good but I love Retro
Draft Picks: Keep em or Trade em?
Once again depends on the franchises direction keep em if we are going young, trade em if we can get someone like Rondo, Iguodala, or Al Jefferson.
Who should Portland draft at Nos. 6 & 11?
#6 if Drummond is available he would be a great trade piece to net Iguodala, if Davis, Beal, Kidd-Gilchrist, or Robinson are available must keep them. #11 Unless Lillard is available Portland should use this pick to trade down or pair it for a veteran like Taj Gibson.
Who would you like to see as the next head coach of the Trail Blazers?
Depends if we go young then I would be a huge fan of Mike Budenholzer, if we go veteran than give me Jerry Sloan all day.
For being recognized as the Fan of the Week, Cory will receive a $10 gift certificate to the Trail Blazers Fan Shop. And who knows, it could be you next time around!
