Trail Blazers President Emeritus Harry Glickman added one more distinction to his long list of achievements on Wednesday. The Trail Blazers Founder was inducted into the inaugural class of the Oregon Jewish Sports Hall of Fame at the Oregon Jewish Museum.
“It’s a real honor, especially to be in the first class and be in the group that was there,” said Glickman. “We’ve had a lot of great Jewish athletes, and to have them on display is phenomenal.”
A few special pieces of Trail Blazers history were contributed in Glickman’s honor to the museum’s new “In the Game” exhibit, including a Trail Blazers team signed basketball. The exhibit features objects and mementos that are important to the history of Oregon's Jewish community while highlighting the pursuit of sport throughout the decades.
Glickman and his beloved Trail Blazers are well represented. But for all of his accolades, what’s the greatest accomplishment by the man who founded Portland’s professional basketball team?
“Getting two kids through college.”
