Aldridge Involves Twitter Family In Rehab Updates
By sarahhecht Posted in: LaMarcusAldridge
The power of Twitter and instant updates still hasn’t ceased to amaze me. I still remember the first major milestone I learned via a Twitter update when I joined the microblogging site in 2009: the death of Michael Jackson.
Now, with the proliferation of Twitter and countless athletes actively using accounts it’s become more than the breaking news and vendor deals I saw it originally used for.
Trail Blazers leader LaMarcus Aldridge is constantly tweeting updates and interacting with fans via his account,
@aldridge_12. More recently, he’s taken to using it as a way to update Rip City faithful on his rehabilitation following the surgical repair of a hip injury he suffered at the end of the season. He missed eight games due to the pain.
On May 10th, Aldridge underwent successful surgery in Colorado. He had this to say pre and post surgery:
As his recovery’s progressed he’s kept all of us here in Portland abreast, even tweeting a photo of himself working on a stationary bike.
Today his latest tweets informed the world he’s officially one week post-operation and continues to improve.
With Aldridge home for the off-season and away from the media I take comfort in his regular tweets. I rest assured not having to wonder about his status and how he's healing. Knowing Portland’s All-Star is doing everything in his power to come back healthy next season is exactly what’s needed to calm the nerves in an off-season already riddled with uncertainty.
Thanks LA!
