Nicolas Batum, Blaze the Trail Cat and Kia Motors spent an afternoon earlier this week teaching students of Bilquist Elementary the importance of reading. The kids gathered for a riotous assembly to learn secrets about Blaze and Batum through reading.

“I think that power to teach them. Because we’re a model for them,” Batum said. “It’s huge to learn to read. All those kid can hear us, but a few of them can we catch the importance to read. It’s good. The NBA do a great job providing teach kid like this read to achieve. That’s three great words because you have to know to read.”
“Some of those kids tonight are gonna go ‘Mom, I wanna read a book,’’ Batum said of having an impact through the interaction with the kids. “Then we winning.”
After the fun the school was awarded hundreds of new books for their library to continue to encourage the students to read.
