1 KEY PLAY:LA LAKERS 1/5/2012

By BDF444
Win or lose, my Dad will point to one play in a game that he believes decided the outcome.  It's not always a scoring play; in fact sometimes it's a ref's call or lack of a call.

I am going to do a game blog for each game with my "One Key Play".  This is my first blog entry.

With the Lakers up 60-59 Gerald Wallace made an incredible steal and went coast to coast for a layup and one- 3 points the old fashioned way.  After being down since mid way through the 2nd, the Blazers took the lead. Many fans though Wallace's monster dunk was the tipping point, but I picked this play. No question, both plays were huge. The "and one" gets my vote by a hair.  For one, it really got the crowd pumped up.  It seemed like the Blazers could get within 3-4 points of the Lakers, but not any closer. They needed a big play to get back in the game and got it from Wallace. It also seemed to take the Lakers off their game. After the 3 point play, the Lakers only made 3 field goals the rest of the quarter allowing the Blazers to build a 10 point lead that would not be relinquished.

Up next: The Suns.  Go Blazers!
