I agree 100%. B Roy has done so much for Portland in such a short time. I don't know if teams have retired a number after a player only played for such a short time (or if they can), but if any player deserves it, its Brandon Roy. #7 needs to be hanging in the rafters among the other Blazer greats.
I'm there with you. Brandon's number should hang from the rafters.
Thanks guys, I'm a fan from Washington. So I got to see Brandon play a lot and it was an honor. Newellbrian, I don't believe there is any limit to when or why a number can be retired considering it is up to the owner and organization and not a set rule of the NBA. Although not the NBA but consider the retiring of the #12 for the 12th man of the Seattle Seahawks, a number was retired for no actual player at all. Any way I just hope that they can provide this honor. Although I am not sure with Brandon being as humble and gracious of a man that he is, whether or not he would ever say he deserves it, so its our job to brag for him.
