Informal Workouts: Wednesday, December 7th

By sarahhecht Posted in: BrandonRoy, NicolasBatum, WesleyMatthews
Day three. More importantly the second to last informal workout before the official opening of training camp on Friday!

So lets get to the nitty gritty.

Wesley Matthews, in town since the weekend, was scarcely seen at the practice facility until today—he picked up a bug and was battling illness for the last few days. That changed this afternoon when the 6-5 guard openly discussed his never-ending drive to improve, possibly coming off the bench behind Brandon Roy and his weird excitement to play back-to-back-to-backs in a post-workout interview.

With so many Trail Blazers back in town and working out at the PF, it’s finally starting to feel like a basketball season. LaMarcus Aldridge, Gerald Wallace, Marcus Camby, Nolan Smith, Elliot Williams, Luke Babbitt, Chris Johnson and Earl Barron took to the hardwood to practice again today.

The list of recent arrivals expanded when a fresh-off-the-plane Nicolas Batum made an exclusive stop on with Casey Holdahl and Mike Rice.

The French forward discussed his development while playing for SLUC Nancy during the lockout, his intent to elevate his game to the next level and his pure joy at being back in Portland. You don’t want to miss a second of this interview.

Lastly, the one and only Brandon Roy iced the daily arrivals cake, hitting the practice facility around 2:30pm. Check in again tomorrow, I’ll do my very best to catch up with the superstar.

Missed the recap of workouts from yesterday? Catch up.

  6. classes, daily calls to one or more siblings, homework, studying, hanging out with my dormie ... blazer workouts and arrivals ... i need about 3 more hours in a day to keep up with all this!

it's great to see the guys trickling back and hearing how the guys are doing in the workouts. may have a new favorite after review videos and interviews from the last couple of days -- Elliot. have a feeling he's going to be something special. under a normal schedule, i don't know if he would have gotten many minutes. however, with the schedule crammed like it is with triple-backs, i think guys like Elliot, Luke and Chris may just get additional opportunities to get on the floor and display their talents as the team delves deeper into the bench.

  8. @Albert and Brian, I'm glad to be back!

@Kass, agreed on the Elliot front. I'm rediculously excited to see him play, and interested to see what he can do when facing a defender. I'm anticipating a fun season of growth from him. And just think, four months from now we could be talking about what a huge spark he was!

@Hg, It's great to see you in the chats! Make sure to check out the videos, Nicolas was a gem and Wesley was his usual determined self. Both nice to see. When I saw Brandon he was moving perfectly. I didn't see him on the court, just as he walked into the practice facility. I'm hoping he'll be back today so we can see more of what he has in the tank.

  9. I will do, I can't watch all the TV because of work but watch them afterwords that is why I don't get in to many of the chats.

Is sideline reporter a job you have to apply for? or is it appointed to you and you have not choice? or are you not interested at all? or would you rather I dropped this subject altogether LOL. Oh! have I ever told you I was a brat?
