Day three. More importantly the second to last informal workout before the official opening of training camp on Friday!
So lets get to the nitty gritty.
Wesley Matthews, in town since the weekend, was scarcely seen at the practice facility until today—he picked up a bug and was battling illness for the last few days. That changed this afternoon when the 6-5 guard openly discussed his never-ending drive to improve, possibly coming off the bench behind Brandon Roy and his weird excitement to play back-to-back-to-backs in a post-workout interview.
With so many Trail Blazers back in town and working out at the PF, it’s finally starting to feel like a basketball season. LaMarcus Aldridge, Gerald Wallace, Marcus Camby, Nolan Smith, Elliot Williams, Luke Babbitt, Chris Johnson and Earl Barron took to the hardwood to practice again today.
The list of recent arrivals expanded when a fresh-off-the-plane Nicolas Batum made an exclusive stop on trailblazers.tv with Casey Holdahl and Mike Rice.
The French forward discussed his development while playing for SLUC Nancy during the lockout, his intent to elevate his game to the next level and his pure joy at being back in Portland. You don’t want to miss a second of this interview.
Lastly, the one and only Brandon Roy iced the daily arrivals cake, hitting the practice facility around 2:30pm. Check in again tomorrow, I’ll do my very best to catch up with the superstar.
