Informal Workouts: Monday, December 5th
By sarahhecht Posted in: LaMarcusAldridge
It certainly didn’t take long for Trail Blazers team captain LaMarcus Aldridge to get back to Portland and into the practice facility. On Monday morning, following his first workout with Chris Johnson and Earl Barron, the 6-11 power forward spoke to media on a range of topics including his individual improvements over the summer and the team workouts he organized in Austin.
During his extended offseason Aldridge geared his workouts toward gaining more confidence, putting on muscle, going left on a defender and he intensely focused on the development of his game from the elbows and top of the key. He also hired a nutritionist to better learn how his body processes different foods. All factors that will garner immense results when play resumes at the opening of training camp on Friday.
Beyond his on the court work, a part of Aldridge’s determination to improve came in the form of studying game film. Not of opponents, but of his new teammate, point guard Raymond Felton. An informal team workout in Austin, attended by Felton, gave Aldridge the idea. He noticed Felton’s favoritism for what he calls a “pocket pass” and proceeded to better his game to more accurately receive it.
As far as offseason work goes, LaMarcus continues to be as determined as he is during the season. A fact that will undoubtedly transfer to the court when games resume.
