The summer is rapidly coming to a close, but the 2011 make it better
Statewide Summer Tour presented by Kia is still going strong. After an earlier stop this week in Tillamook, the team of Trail Blazers employees loaded up the Kias and headed west to Cornelius for another day of basketball, sun and fun.
The Summer Tour team met up with a very well behaved group of kids at Cornelius Elementary. Radio analyst and former Trail Blazer Antonio Harvey took charge once again of the clinic, using his booming voice to rile the campers into a frenzy before warmups and drills focusing on shooting, ball handling and defense.
The stop in Cornelius also featured a couple of special guests. Harry Glickman, founder and first president of the Trail Blazers, and Dale Schlueter, the first Trail Blazers signed to a professional contract, made the trip out to the country to take in the day's festivities. Blaze the Trail Cat also crashed the party, handing out stickers and scaring a few of the kids before helping out with some dribbling and shooting stations.
With the Cornelius Kia Summer Tour Stops in the books, it's now time to venture down south to Medford and Eugene where we'll be hosting more FREE basketball clinics for kids ages 7 to 13. For more information or to download a registration form, visit www.trailblazers.com/makeitbetter
