Draft lottery fixed?

By mbmurr1 Posted in: Blazers
I don't understand how the announcers knew when Cleveland's pick from the Clippers did not land where it was supposed to be that it was in the top three. They also knew that Utah's pick from the Nets was top three as soon as it was out of position. If the draft was not fixed and the odds say you should get the eighth pick just because someone else lands in the eighth spot does not put you in the top three by default, It only means you are seven or less. I have a problem with the announcers knowing the results of a live, sealed drawing before the public. I think this shows that this draft lottery was pre-determined.

  1. This is false. If you are projected to get the 8th overall pick and you don't have the eighth pick, then YES you are automatically in the top 3. Its how the draft works. They draw for the top three, then the rest go in order of worst records. So say you are projected to get the #4 pick, then yes, you can get potentially #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, or #7.. but if you are projected to get the #10 pick you can ONLY get #1, #2, #3, #10, #11, #12, or #13. Its how the draft works. It makes total sense
