The series to a weird shift in the 4th quarter when Wallace and Roy were on a fast break and Wallace thru a pass to Roy, FREEZE. The pass was mid air and all I could think of was why is Wesley on the bench, is he not one of the are best three point shooters and a defender who can switch on most guards. The only player to play in all 82 games and he did not play the whole 4th quarter. Ok, back to the fast break. Blazers up by 6 and a good chance to get two more points, pass is mid air and Roy is lumbering to try and catch up to the ball but there is not a chance in this situation. The ball goes out of bounce and at that point in the game there is a Time Out Called.
So...we see where I'm going with this. Maybe you do, maybe you don't. Time out is over and who is still on the court in are starting 5...none other then the natural. Why, I have no clue. I love Roy and I would love to see him get some confidence back in this series. Do I think it is going to happen, I really don't know, what I do know is that when Roy is on the floor the Mavericks started putting a ton of ball pressure on and are Offense went down hill. I love Old Roy, but this is not the Roy of the past. Its also not all his fault, I think Mills should be the point with Roy coming off the bench. True point guards help are whole team when there on the floor. But that's not the answer really either.
The answer we will never know because Nate does not even know. What can we do here, what players should be in the 4th quarter. Small lineup or the Large lineup. I guess we all have to wait for game two. But can we all agree that Roy should be waving the towel on the bench in the 4th quarter. Everyone loves Roy but its time to win a series and we have the players to do it.

  1. good point, Nick. i love the Brandon of old, but he's not back to where he should be yet. unfortunately, Nate seems to feel the need to have an eight-man rotation for the playoffs. it's my belief he needs to expand that to nine to include Patty. Patty is a change-of-tempo pg who would have done well in game one. my only other suggestion would be to have had Marcus in there. i understand he's not part of Nate's closing rotation, but through three quarters he had 18 rebounds. we certainly could have used his board work in there late in the game. imo, Nate needs to loosen on his own rotation guidelines to give us a better chance to win.
