What are you waiting for?!

So we've played two games in Houston and lost both. Offensively Yao has not been much of a factor and that's why both games were close. I think we are obviously a better team than the Rockets but Nate is getting outcoached. The players we have are ready to take things to the next level. But at least against the Rockets, McMillan is holding us back. In game three we lost because we missed shots. In game four we lost because we couldn't get a defensive rebound. And it all could be fixed with the same solution, GET YAO OUT OF THE PAINT! Game four was a perfect example. Przybilla and Oden were both in foul trouble so there were stretches where Nate was forced to play Aldridge at center. During those stretches LA had multiple WIDE OPEN jumpshots and he played as good of defense on Yao as any of our other guys do. In fact, Aldridge is more athletic than Oden and Przybilla combined. It doesn't matter who covers Yao, the strategy always ends up the same, front him. Aldridge may have better luck in that regard cause it all comes down to weak side help anyway. The bottom line is that Aldridge is a bad matchup for Yao. It's blatently obvious! So now we have one more chance to get it right. I am saying it right now; 'Start Aldridge at center from here on out and we win the series. If we don't it will end in Houston.' I don't think Nate should be fired or anything like that. He's a young coach too and he's still learning. He just needs to remember being on the floor and watching Shawn Kemp be a matchup nightmare for other big men. Nate, do not be afraid to change things up! Roy and Aldridge are the only guys that be on the floor as much as possible no matter the situation. Everyone and everything else is interchangeable. Stop approaching these guys like this starting unit has winning together for years. They don't know who they are yet. Nate show them that who they are is whoever they need to be to win.

  1. That's an interesting thought. I do think when we put LaMarcus at the 5 Yao has a problem. But I don't know if we need to start LaMarcus at center. Maybe just use the strategy a little more.
