There are only two games tonight. Yeah, you read that right. Two.
Lucky for us Trail Blazers fans (and scoreboard watchers) both games include potential Western Conference playoff teams.
Let’s get to it...
Last night's scores and effects:
The
Memphis Grizzlies defeated the
Boston Celtics 90-87 in Boston. In a shocking win for Memphis, the Grizz gave themselves a full two game cushion ahead of the Houston Rockets in 9th place. The Grizz maintained their 8th seed in the Western Conference.
The
Utah Jazz fell to the
Oklahoma City Thunder 94-106 in Oklahoma City. Utah’s loss leaves them in 11th and four full games behind Memphis and out of the playoffs. Things are getting ugly for the Jazz.
The
Golden State Warriors were defeated by the
Houston Rockets 112-131 in Houston. The Rockets moved into 9th place with their win. They’re two full games behind Memphis.
The
Toronto Raptors were dropped by the
Phoenix Suns 106-114 in Phoenix. The Suns are keeping their hopes alive and remain three full games out of the 8th seed.
The
San Antonio Spurs lost to the
Denver Nuggets 112-115 in Denver. I can’t believe Denver pulled this one off. Their win keeps them in the 5th seed in the West and sit a game and a half ahead of the Trail Blazers.
Tonight’s games with Western Conference potential playoff teams:
Minnesota Timberwolves (17-54) vs.
Dallas Mavericks (49-21) I’m expecting a stomping of the Timberwolves, but who knows, my expectations have been off lately... The outcome of this game won’t change anything for either team. Dallas stays in 3rd and Minnesota stays nowhere.
New Orleans Hornets (40-31) vs.
Utah Jazz (36-36) This game is important for the Jazz who are clinging to playoff hopes. Win or lose New Orleans stays in 7th and Utah stays in 11th.
Here are the playoff match-ups as of today:
