Another night for the Trail Blazers and another game we need to win.
Here are the movement scenarios for the Trail Blazers and the New Orleans Hornets:
- Trail Blazers win and Hornets win, seeding remains the same
- Trail Blazers lose and Hornets lose, seeding remains the same
- Trail Blazers lose and Hornets win, Portland falls to 7th and New Orleans jumps to 6th
Andre Miller is questionable for the game tonight due to a family matter. His flight is due back in Portland at 5pm and he’ll head straight to the Rose Garden from PDX. If he can’t make it for tip-off Rudy Fernandez will start.

Last night's scores and effects:
The
Denver Nuggets lost to the
Orlando Magic 82-85 in Orlando. The Nuggets remain in 5th in the West, but their loss brought the Trail Blazers to within a game and a half.
The
Charlotte Bobcats were defeated by the
Oklahoma City Thunder 82-99 in Oklahoma City. The Thunder are planted into the 4th seed solidly and the win keeps them there.
The
San Antonio Spurs downed the
Dallas Mavericks 97-91 in Dallas. The loss for the Mavs keeps them in the 3rd seed in the West and puts them a full game behind the Los Angeles Lakers in 2nd.
The
Boston Celtics were toppled by the
Houston Rockets 77-93 in Houston. This was a huge win for the Rockets. They’re now only a game behind the Memphis Grizzles and the final playoff seed.
The
Golden State Warriors were downed by the
Phoenix Suns 97-108 in Phoenix. This was an important win for the Suns. They fell from 9th to 11th with a recent loss and their win keeps them in the hunt. They still remain in 11th, but aren’t allowing the gap to widen.

Tonight’s games with Western Conference potential playoff teams:
Denver Nuggets (41-28) vs.
Miami Heat (47-22) The Nuggets need to win this game to maintain their lead over the Trail Blazers. A loss for Denver coupled with a win for Portland will bring the Trail Blazers to within half a game of the Nuggets and the 5th seed. I’m rooting for Dwayne Wade and the Heat in this one.
Indiana Pacers (30-39) vs.
Memphis Grizzlies (37-32) The Grizz need to win at home tonight. They’re currently in the 8th seed in the West. They have a one game lead over the Utah Jazz and a loss would bring them dangerously close to slipping out of the playoffs. I’m pulling for the Pacers in this one, the further behind Portland that Memphis is the better.
Boston Celtics (48-19) vs.
New Orleans Hornets (40-30) This is a big game for the Hornets. Their positioning depends on the success of the Trail Blazers. If the Blazers win New Orleans can’t move ahead of them in the standings. If Portland loses and New Orleans wins they’ll flip-flop in the standings. Loses for both teams will keep Portland in 6th and New Orleans in 7th. I’d never thought I’d say this, but go Boston!
Charlotte Bobcats (28-40) vs.
San Antonio Spurs (55-13) A win or loss for the Spurs keeps them in 1st in the Western Conference. The Bobcats are sitting a game and a half out of the final playoff spot in the East.
Philadelphia 76ers (36-33) vs.
Portland Trail Blazers (39-29) Tonight is another night the Trail Blazers need to get a win. Topping Philadelphia will relieve worries of dropping to the 7th seed. If Portland loses and New Orleans wins we could see the Trail Blazers drop to 7th.
Here are the playoff match-ups as of today.
What do you predict for the Trail Blazers tonight?
