Unfortunately, what the Portland Trail Blazers are doing out here in the Pacific Northwest is, for the most part, going unnoticed by the rest of the NBA world.
Sure the national media does its best to offer "fair" and "equal" exposure to all the relevant teams of the NBA, but what I have noticed, and continue to notice, is that even though the Blazers bring an entertaining and exciting show to the public, and on the nights where Portland records a "W" in the win column it sometimes gets thrown by the way-side unless we defeat an NBA superpower, i.e. the Heat, Lakers or Celtics.
Now I know what some of you might be thinking, "What a Homer this guy is!" and you would be 100% correct! I have lived and breathed Portland Trail Blazer basketball for as long as I can remember. My glory days started with hall of famer Clyde Drexler and Terry Porter, evolved into the sometimes villainous Damon Stoudamire and Rasheed Wallace, and has finally found peace with the All-Star caliber play of LaMarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy.
I could not imagine my life without my Blazers and that's the number one reason why it's so hard for me to sit and watch as all the great things our team does, almost every game, for whatever reason, goes unnoticed. It's to bad we can't pick and choose our schedule, because if we could, I'm sure we'd rather play the NBA's elite on a nightly basis just so the world can be made to witness the wondrous things that are happening up here in the far off Pacific Northwest.
-RIP CITY FOREVER!!!
I don't think disappointment in the lack of national coverage makes you a homer at all. That's a frustration shared by many fans. As long as we're not disrespected by the national media, I'm cool with being selfish and keeping our team nestled right here in PNW paradise.
Thanks sarah for your support!
