Pryz the Warrior

By thedanman
I miss Pryz.  The dude is a warrior and always has his teammate's back.  Every team needs a big guy like that.  A guy who will fight and demand respect for his teammate.  Jerome Kersey did that back in the day.  Those kind of guys rarely get the headline but they are known on their teams as hidden stars.

Joel was a hidden star on the Blazers.  He joined this team happy to have a chance to show his stuff and in return he gave us 100% effort every night.  In his first season with the Blazers I remember thinking, who is this guy?  I've never heard of him.  How did we get him and why is he playing so hard on a team that isn't trying anymore?  He instantly became my favorite player as he was our only player that was showing any heart.  He never gave up and he always gave us his best.  He taught our young guys how a classy professional conducts himself. On many occasions, early in McMillan's time here, he failed to use Pryzbilla enough.  But Pryz never complained and never showed negative body language.  He carried himself like a professional.

Pryzbilla was not the most talented but he played tough.  He could clean up the boards and swat incoming shots.  Shaq didn't scare him one bit even though he had like a 100 lbs on Pryz and all the fame.  Pryz made and still makes textbook perfect picks.

His return from two patella ruptures was amazing.  He could have thrown in the towel easily but he didn't.  Thanks to his return we have Gerald Wallace.  That's a tough pill to swallow but the Pryz is a professional.  He was and still is a hidden star on the Blazers!

Go Blazers!

  1. My favorite player--what a warrior! He came back much sooner than Greg and Joel had 2 injuries in the same time frame--he worked hard to come back sooner! I hope that we can get him back soon--it'll be weird to see our 3 centers in Bobcat uniforms tomorrow night! I can't wait to give a standing ovation to them in the intros!

  2. More than any other single Blazer, Joel is the reason I'm a fan. I miss him maore than I can say. He's a Bobcat now, and tomorrow he'll do his best to beat us in the RG. If he didn't he would be Przy.
