Gerald Wallace's First Interview In Rip City

By sarahhecht Posted in: Blazers, geraldwallace
The sun is shining. The sky is blue. And it’s official, Gerald Wallace is in Portland!

After a long flight from Charlotte, Wallace had a smile on his face as he walked toward a cheering crowd, Trail Blazers flags, foam fingers and a sign reading “Welcome to Rip City Gerald.”

The six-foot-seven All-Star was welcomed to Rip City by the Trail Blazers front office staff (Rich Cho donned a red Adidas track suit and it was awesome,) a group of employees and a few fans. I got the privilege of being part of the welcoming committee and scored the first interview with Wallace as a Trail Blazer!

We chatted about Portland fans, the energy in the Rose Garden and what he’s plans to bring to the team.

P.S. He blogged for the Bobcats. Maybe we’ll be seeing some goodies from Crash himself. Keep your fingers crossed!

  2. Hey thanks for this. Really cool to see him actually setting foot in town. Very excited to see how this works out. We've got a blog going tracking the tattoos of the Trailblazers and I just started a thread for GW :)

  4. Should have warned him about Patty Mills and about how if he doesn't join Twitter, Patty will haunt him.

  5. loved the huge smile as he was answering that first question, Sarah; very giddy! it was also great to see him talk to that young fan at the end of the video.

I thank you again. Living in Central OR, and no comcast carriers where I live. BlazerTV is a wonderful place to get the scoops of the trailblazers. I like the, "what ever it takes to win" attitude, although I beleive that is a pat answer in the NBA LOL.

Can't wait and I am glad he had a welcoming committee.
