An Eruption is Needed

By blazerdarren77
On May 18, 1980, a less known mountain in the Cascades made national headlines when Mt. St. Helens erupted. Now, nearly 31 years later, another eruption in the northwest needs to make headway in the NBA. I'm talking about Mt. McMillan, aka Coach Nate of the Portland Trailblazers.
On Friday against the Indiana Pacers, there was a 43-22 Pacer advantage at the free throw line, enough for Nate to get a technical foul during the game. It's very rare that Nate gets a T, but this was needed. Unfortunately, it didn't light a fire to the team, nor did the officiating improved. Even LaMarcus Aldridge fouled out early in the 4th. However there was no post game rant by anyone about the discrepancy of fouls called about the game. Everyone seemed to discuss the poor shooting by the team, or being outrebounded, or the fastbreak points the opposition had. When asked about it, Nate just went to the our 'guys weren't aggressive enough' card.
This was one of those moments where Mt. McMillan needed to erupt. This team has been disrespected by the league. They're not getting the calls they deserve(even their 3 time all star Brandon Roy doesn't get the 'star calls')
Aldridge was not selected to the all star game this year twice(including Blazer hater David Stern) the team is not being recognized as a team that has a winning record despite all the players lost to injuries.
As fans, we need Mt. McMillan to erupt. It's long overdue. Like the mess that was created by St. Helens, Nate needs to recognize that this mess ( a fine by the league) will have benefits. Years after the eruption, the area around Mt. St. Helens flourished. Has anyone been up there since then? It's magnificent. Same thing can happen in Blazerland. The league officials will be forced to recognize Portland as a well deserving team that gets beneficiary calls to go their way. Blazermania will return again. Does anyone remember those times? It's a feeling unlike any other in this area.
This will ONLY happen if an eruption takes place.

  1. I don't know about this Sholes... It's not really Nate Mac's MO to "erupt."

Reffing is somewhat subjective. We're always complaining about the refs, but isn't it part of the game to adjust? Isn't keeping a cool head in those frustrating situations part of being a professional?

  2. Look at what Mt. Cuban does Hecht... He'll erupt for his team and the league is 'forced' to take note of Dallas. Why not have the same happen here?
