going to the game and blazer chat

LIttle did I know when I first went into blazer chat during pre season to chat with fellow fans about a team I dearly love would turn into something I will never forget. I found this chat to be great as it is very well moderated and the blazer staff who monitor this chat are the nicest and most professional people around.  I never dreamed I would make good freinds and bond with fellow lady blazer fans who shared the same pssssion for this team and sports in general. To me this was very refreshing as I grew up in a time where it was socially unacceptable for a woamn to love sports and be a fanatic.  it was something you did not do and if you did you were considred weird. It was hard to find other girls who were into sports so you basically had to hang with guys and that was kind of odd as they treated you kind of strange but would talk to you but boy they hated it when you knew more about the game then they did.  So to my surprise I found some women I clicked with in chat and as the season wore on we got on twitter and some of us shared messages in private about our lives and such.

Tonight I did something that I would have never dreamed of doing three years ago before I lost fifty pounds  I went to a game with someone I only knew in blazer chat. we called ourselves vintage or she calls us vintage ladies of basketball. lol  she invited me to go and I thought why not this is a great way to meet someone I have been chatting with and we can share a game together and I as a long time basketball fan  can have the privilege of going with someone who had never ever been to a blazer game.  Let me tell you this person I went with we bonded instantly as we had been communicating since late sept early oct.  I had the best night in ages and we became freinds long before this game.  It was risky as I thought what if we dont hit it off and find out we dont like each other.  not true. I was careful though I met her at the transit center etc.  we had fun doing subway chatting about our fave team our lives as we are in the same age group and facing similar situations in our lives.  It is so great to know and meet other lady blazer fans I love you ladies more then you know.  You have made this season one of the most memorable.  anyhow then we got to the rose garden.  I was a tad hacked as i had throw away food I had put in my purse for work and forgot to remove. the rose garden does not allow food in. you know how hard that was to throw away food? it was very hard as I grew up with prents who went thru the depression you never threw food away period. you do not waste food.  I dont waste food ever as it is expensive to replace.  that policy upset me greatly.  I honestly forgot the food was in my purse and  i did not know about the no food policy.  anyhow we then went to the fan shop boy is that a crazy place to be before the game.  she got what she wanted i lost her a few times. lol  then we found our seats and we were acting like two giddy grirls who felt like it was christmas day.  We also saw ripctity sarah and shalamar clark as they were to the left of us. we went over and met them as we had been chatting with them since oct.  sarah is a sweetheart and shalamar what a nice man.  then the game began we took it all in how can I explain what you see and experience at the game verses tv or radio.  for one thing you do not have commentary period you get to watch teh game and experience it in its pure form.  I love that.  I love the  jumbo tron.  They had cameras in locker room and you got to see what the players were doing before they entered the floor.  that was so cool and then the usual ford truck blimp giving out prizes.  the acts were great.  we had one incident where I thought my freind was going to kicked out of the game. all because of these two young teens coming in and out druing the game and a mix up with seats.  we got it worked out. i wont go into too many details but they were so wrong coming in and out and coming in 30 seconds before half was over and then finding their seats taken and then not sitting down and causing a stink yes my freind put her hands on him to get him out of her way and get him to sit down.  that is where she almost got kicked out as the two boys wanted her out they brought security over etc.  i did not witness what she did as my back was turned to it as i was trying to let them in and out. then we had the mix up wtih another couple trying to get to their seats well we were one seat over too far honest mistake.  it was great to see the players play and they did not disappoint.  this game and what is going on is so different then when i went during the start of the jailblazers era.  I will go back and I think I found a freind I can go with again as we both love this team.  I am so thankful for the ladies and the guys in blazers chat your the best and truly portland has the best fans.  who would have thought I would find myself at a blazer game and with someone i met under funny circumstances.  the fans truly do make this team fun to be around.  I am so grateful I can now be who I am and it is acceptable. i love it.  I love what jeff n oregon does with his daughter takes her to blazer games.   That takes me back to a time when my dad and I used to go ball games together and i was his baby girl. it was funny i had two brothers who did not give a rip about sports I did and my dad was a sports nut. so that was daddy and daughter time to bond.  He is the one who took me to my first basketball games such as the oregon ducks under the kamikazi kids, the harlem globetrotters., oregon football yes i grew up in eugene and was privileged to see some great athletes years ago.  so jeff you make me happy that your now doing with your daughter. she will never forget what you are doing with her now trust me from a daddys girl! and the last sporting event i went with my dad was a seattle mariners game...that was a five or six years ago.  yep daddy was the first one to take me my first major league baseball team . anyhow  Im blessed to live in a great city and a great state who has the best people around.  im proud to be a native oregonain.  anyhow i love all my fellow lady blazer fans that i know. you know who you are!

  1. Wow. What an incredible game! A truly overwhelming experience. I've been dragging around here for a couple-three hours, now I'm taking a nap. RG attendance requires excellent cardio conditioning --for the fans.

  2. thanks for sharing this, teresa. wouldn't it be great if all the regulars in the chat get the opportunity to attend a game together? sure would be fun to meet everyone and enjoy a game experience.

  3. yes it would shole i would love a meeting at end of season maybe a pizza parlour so we could all meet...occassia and i had a blast yes occassia it requires great stamina and a night to go on a weekend. try going to work the next day after being up til three am because your so pumped we sure had fun though...

Great story TG, i love chatting on game days, even though I get to see the comcast games it's fun to have a sense of community with fellow fans and know you aren't alone in your love of the blazers :) I've been to three games this season and it is always a wonderful show but when you can't go chat is the next best thing! Hope there are more games in your future, gotta show off that patty jersey :)
