An early weekend sweep of the LA's

By Richard Ackerman Posted in: LaMarcusAldridge, RudyFernandez, Lakers, Clippers
First off, WOO HOO we beat the L*kers, and not in a blowout, but in a close grind it out playoff type game. Good performances from basically everyone. They played hard, got down by double digits (again) but still found a way to grind out a victory. I don't know what it is with this team needing to get down by double digits in order to win, but whatever works for ya keep doin' it!

I was a little disappointed in our performance against the JV Los Angeles squad (the Clips) tonight. I don't know if it was the 4 games in 5 nights finally catching up to these young guys, but we looked pretty lathargic out there for a lot of this game. Thank you Rudy for coming in and being a major spark when we needed it. Travis hasn't really been Mr. 6th man lately so it's good to see someone else step up, and in the past few games it's been Rudy. It looks like he's feeling better (you can tell because he's started to hit his free throws again) and that's a very good and needed thing right now with how tough these games are.

Once again LaMarcus continues to show why he was the #2 pick in the 2006 draft (not to take anything away from the #6 pick in that draft, he's pretty good too). He has just been beastly lately on both ends of the court. What I really like is he's showing new moves in the post almost every game. It's so nice to just sit back and enjoy the beauty of it. What's been almost more impressive is he's hitting the glass harder than ever for rebounds (9 against the Clips tonight). With two big beasts like Joel and Greg in there taking a lot of those rebounds, that little extra bit of effort makes all the difference and I think the results speak for themselves.

Overall, can't complain about a back to back beating of LA teams. It just makes me feel all warm and cozy inside. Well now there's only 2 home games left until the end of the regular season, and both are very VERY important. If Sacramento can somehow find a way to beat Denver on Monday (in Denver, ouch), we'd still have a chance at the division. I hate pinning my hopes on the Kings though. Let's hope they can help us out. Other than that it's the OKC Sonics Thunder on Monday. They're a pretty good team (I don't like them as much as Ric Bucher seems to) that can cause problems for us. We need to take care of business early and not let OKC think they can play with us. Come out aggressive early and often and take it to them.
