converting a southern californian

i've been a blazers fan since before i can remember, and now i'm in my freshman year in college.

my dormmate is from oxnard, california, just north of los angeles.

Julie is not necessarily a sports fan, but if she had an nba team for which to pull, it would be the clippers. she knows enough about Kobe Bryant to know she doesn't want to follow the lakers.

call it luck, fate or fortune that she moved into her freshman dorm with a native portlander (okay, milwaukian to be exact!).

it was actually Julie who asked what the big deal was about the blazers. my new friend was in for an education not found in any 100-year-old building on campus.

i told her all about the blazers -- from our exciting frenchman small forward to our steady, level-headed all-star shooting guard. and everything in between.

the season opener came, and Julie was impressed. she then told me she enjoyed the excitement -- even on the radio -- but she wanted one thing in order for her to be called a blazers fan.

she wanted me to prepare a meatloaf for her. i complied, and the night of the clippers game on oct. 27, julie had meatloaf.

i know, what does meatloaf have to do with the blazers?! well, apparently it means a lot to the blazers' newest fan!

go Julie, and go blazers!

  3. I'm in the same boat as Julie. I was never really an avid Trailblazers fan, however due to the acquisition of two local High School stars, in Armon and Luke, I am now doing my best to watch any televised games...LOL. Hopefully be able to watch my first NBA basketball game as I told Armon..I would when we was in the NBA...

  5. that is great kassandra. your meatloaf must have been great to get her converted lol keep on converting. we have a great team and we are spoiled here for sure. ty for sharing that is so cool
