I see that Chandler is a pretty good FT shooter for a defensive Big.  I also see that he is not a free agent, and that Tyson will make more than Aldridge will in salary this year.

Asik has played in all 82 games in both of his 2 full seasons and All of the 66 games for the lockout 11-12 which was in between the two full years.  Chandler has never played in all of the games for any season within his 12 year career.  Asik put up 1.1 BPG in 30.0 MPG, compared to Chandler's 1.1 BPG in 32.8 MPG last season.  I don't think those are good enough BPG numbers that either had.

Defense isn't just about having the most blocks are steals, and I was just saying he would be great, rumor is that we're gonna be in talks with Kaman and maybe Tony Allen

    From what i´ve been reading...

With our cap room (around 9M) Olshey is looking at Kaman, Dalembert, Splitter and Pachulia.

Trade for a center is an option... the best scenario i see here, is a sign and trade using Hickson, Maynor, eventually Freeland... Who would do this? Wizards(Nene), Houston (Asik) Philadephia (Hawes)

Portland is interested in tony Allen. If we go after Allen could we trade mathews for Asik and still have about $4 million left over for like Matt Barnes or Fransico Garcia?

There are a multitude of potential scenarios that the Blazers could execute this off-season...

    1. The first and also my favorite option consists mostly of free-agent pick-ups... at this moment the Blazers have approximately $13.9 million of cap space... so first I would try to pick up Utah's former big-man Al Jefferson from free-agency for $8-11 million which still leaves $2.9-5.9 million before the cap with the remaining money I would attempt to sign the the combo-forward Earl Clark... this would pretty much eliminate all cap space BUT we have Bird Rights on JJ Hickson, which means if we pay him and our total goes over the salary cap it doesn't matter, so the Blazers could re-sign him without a penalty.

    2. This route is very different from the first... the Suns drafted Alex Len, an up-and-coming big man who has been compared to Tim Duncan... this means the suns are looking to shop their own big-man Marcin Gortat, who is a very solid over-all center and can do a lot alongside Lamarcus, but in order to get him the Blazers would have to give up a player... probably Wesley... but if you give up Matthews that opens a large whole in the 2-guard position, thats where free-agency comes in... names that I've tossed around are players like JR Smith, OJ Mayo and Monta Ellis who all have played in small markets before and didn't have much of a problem with it

    3. The Blazers have knowingly been talking to Nikola Pekovic former-Wolves center who is now in free-agency... he is very talented and young so he still has some maturing to complete in his game and would also come at a reasonable price... which menas we could still do some damage in free-agency to help improve our bench

I like the bird rights idea with hickson. But al is not our answer. Portland made an offer to dorrell wright whether or he accepts it Portland is not making any moves towards the 2 spot. Meaning mathews is not moving anytime soon.

If Wright accepts the offer then the only way to get a big would be through trade and we probably would be trading Batum.  Wright would probably move into the starting SF position.  I would probably not mind this if we got Asik in the deal.

@ Ricky, IF we traded Batum & got Wright to start... THAT would b a SIGNIFICANT downgrade.  We've seen the best of what Wright can do (remember when he was w/ GS?); he's reached his ceiling, we KNOW EXACTLY what Wright can bring & even IF he played @ THAT level again AND we had Batum still on the team, Wright isn't/won't b good enough to displace Nico as starter.  We're bringing in Wright because he'd b awesome for us off the bench; dude could win 6thman o' the yr. IF he brings his best.  I know Hou. likes Batum but they won't take him w/ Harden over there so IF Batum is traded, it would b in a 3 team deal.  There's an article that I read the other day that says Hou. may do a S & T w/ us for Hickson (+ probably Sasha) IF they get D-Bag12 bc w/ helped w/ the 1st part of their attempt by "taking T-Rob off their hands" 4 them ;)  My only worry w/ Wright is that he's streaky (w/ Phi. he was @ his worst BUT w/ us, I think he'll return to GS form) but he's only a bit less consistent than Wes (when Wright is @ his best), so I'm ok w/ that.  Anything can happen but chances r better that we keep Wes now that Tony Allen is off the table.  It's the less sexy option but I think we'll b great w/ bringing in Zaza, Wright, & O'Neal; this way, we don't lose Nico or Wes & we've got a good squad that will make the playoffs :)

Just sign zaza, o'neal and wright. Then sign hickson because of his bird rights someone said we won't have to pay the tax for him. So if we sign hickson last we get the best back up powerforward there is. We get a great back up sf who can be his old golden state self or in between what he is now and what he was then. Then o'neal since no one else can better mentor Meyers then someone who wants to and could get cheap.

I have a feeling Asik will be going to Atlanta if Houston lands d12. Jsmith wants to play for Atlanta and I think he will ask for a sign and trade. Smith for Lin and Asik. If talks heat up in the nba about this happening I think Portland should move on before the market is closed. The longer d12 waits to sign. The worse the teams that want him become and the ones waiting for a sign and trade become. If a team is only going to do a sign and trade if he lands on that team then what happens if he doesn't? Robin Lopez I think will be better in our system and more structure then the pelicans. He won't be lost as much.

the best mentor I think for Meyers is camby

RT @sam_amick: Per @ailene_voisin on Kings/NO trade, no deal done but scenario would send Robin Lopez to POR, Vasquez to SAC, Evans to NO

Rumour that would gve us kind of a Starting Center...

But what would we give up for him?

Sign and trade hickson, but he gives inconsistency on defense. Did Scott's ever get a new defensive coordinator? Maybe he can fix Lopez.

Looks like we're getting closer to acquiring the Fropez. This just in......

It's unclear if the Kings have completely ruled out the possibility of matching the offer, but they are currently working on a sign-and-trade with the Pelicans in which Evans would go to New Orleans while Pelicans point guard Greivis Vasquez would go to Sacramento and Pelicans center Robin Lopez would go to the Portland Trail Blazers. It's unclear what Portland would give up in the deal, but it is not done and Sacramento is still considering other trade scenarios.

It looks very much like the Blazers are getting New Orleans' former-center Robin Lopez... to start of I don't like Robin Lopez at all... he plays terrible defense and has no low-post game which is what we need to compliment Lamarcus... BUT I think there is hope when reading through some of the articles about both the Asik or Gortat trade that would have the Blazers attaining one of these players for the rights to JJ Hickson and Sasha Pavlovic it was mentioned several times that both teams, the Rockets and the Suns, wanted a little bit more... this is where I see Robin Lopez fitting in as the third piece in exchange for one of these two, much better, centers.
