I love the potential of our core this season. When I first log onto the Blazers homepage at the bottom right hand corner the I Am a Trailblazer Fan headings are listed. I think it's a shame that their are so many negative heading on the Blazers website and so few encouraging ones. I want to thank coach Stotts, LaMarcus, Wes, Damian, JJ and Nic for bringing everything they bring to the team night in and night out. My new favorite bench player is Sasha...he may be the steal of the offseason with the Celtics paying his salary and only giving up a mid 40s 2nd round pick for him. Thank you Neil Olshey for the vision and outlook you bring and thank you Paul Allen for keeping an NBA team in Portland! Go Blazers. To Siccolo, I'd give anything to see the title, Blazers Suck wiped off the websites homepage.

Great thread river.  Only positives here please.  I'll start...

Earlier this evening, a friend of my son's ran into Nic shopping in a crafts store on the east side of Portland.  Batum took the time to make that highschooler's day and posed for a quick picture with him.  That is class, and much appreciated.  Thank you Nic.

Who else has been impressed with Nolan lately? He might just be stepping into that backup PG role after all. He's playing aggressive, passing well, and looking like an NBA point. :)

Great thread. Where do I start though!?! Ummm I'll start with Claver, his shot hasn't been falling but I think at some point that will. Otherwise I see a presence with him on the floor and a lot of energy. Looks like he's been in the league before almost. Took him a week or two but he's a nice player for us to have.

I have been impressed with Nolan recently. He's showing maturity that I wasn't sure he had in him, Babbit as well. I love to be wrong about players and I think the idea that we're starting to use the D league has sparked the bench to step up across the board. Nolan played on flawless game but has limited his turnovers and showed much better court vision than I've seen in the past!

I think Victor is a real asset. He seems to have started enjoying the game here and his defense is really good. He had 5 steals for the Stampede yesterday. I think he'll be a valuable back up for Nic for years to come and his shot will start falling when he gets more time on the court

I really enjoyed the Spurs game, and the teamwork and unselfish play! There were players that did not burn up the stat sheet, but they all contributed well to combine for a great win! Some would say San Antonio had an off night, or some other bs, but the fact is the young players just out hustled them!

Yes sir cmeese...we won the lottery with Lillard! He's broken rookie records, been clutch at times, cannot say enough about this kid. Watching him so far this season, I see a ring on his hand in the not so distant future. He's a joy to watch and a great example of professionalism, humble, focused and poised. What a great role model for young kids learning the game. Anyone who thinks 4 year college players don't pan out can just watch Lillard play.

GREAT thread. I think it's a hard thing to avoid in sports that when your team is hitting some low points, alot of fans in every city for any team are going to get up in arms about it. I don't think it's wrong to criticize as fans, but sometimes it can get a little too acidic and more people get going and it snowballs. Love the timing to counter all of that with a thread like this, and get all of us back behind our team.

The upside, and the pace at which that upside is coming along, is amazing with this team. Damian Lillard is better right from the beginning than I EVER would have dared to dream, Meyers Leonard is getting adjusted quicker than expected, Barton has potential to be REAL and it seems he's learning the ropes, and he as well as Claver/Freeland/Pavlovic are all contributing in bigger ways almost every time they step out on the floor... and those are just our ROOKIES.

I'm already convinced that ALL our vets have stepped up for this year; Nic gets heat for his contract deal, and he's been big on paper but even bigger in the game... he's doing a good job of shedding the old habits from his days under McMillan. Wesley has played through a string of injuries that started long before his thumb, all the way back in last season, and yet he has unquestionably evolved in his game. LaMarcus, after being called out about his play in Stott's new style, has silenced his doubters (including me, admittedly) with a PERFECT blend of well-selected jumpers and unstoppable post-play. And then there's Jumpin JJ "The Havoc" Hickson, the smiling beast of an undersized center that plays soooooooo biiiiiiiig. This is what happens when you put the mentality of Wes Mathews in a big-man body, and it's a beautiful thing. I've said it before, JJ's was my first new jersey this year, as soon as I knew he was staying, and I couldn't be happier with him. And seriously, even when he's frustrated in game, the dude ALWAYS looks happy.

Not gonna forget about Nolan, Luke, or Elliot either! First off, with EW... does anyone else feel like he's making that extra effort even though he can't play? Seeing him fly with the team on road trips and forming relations with the other young players, not to mention sticking close and getting acquianted with our new staff, is something I feel like we haven't always seen from players that spend alot of time on the Injury List, and if he has any plans of sticking around and making the roster when he gets healthy, there couldn't be a better way to go about it. I think it says alot about who he is and where his heart is at, and I truly hope we see him in Red and Black in the future.

I have no problem confessing that I had zero faith in Luke when I saw his summer league play and first few games of the season, and was soon losing confidence in Nolan's ability as well. So thankful that it seems to have just been more players needing some time to adjust to a new system, and a coach adjusting his system to the players. The hustle and aggressiveness they've exhibited recently has made me excited again when I see them enter the game, and I think they're going to get even more comfortable in time with their roles on our squad.

Riverman, like you said, I love that Dame is a 4-year educated baller, and I REALLY hope that it maybe influences a trend for future young athletes... something like "you can enter young and early, and be embarassed by lookin like a rookie for a couple years, a boy in a game full of men... OR you can stay in school, grow up and mature and hone your skills, and enter the NBA lookin like a veteran PRO for every year of your career, like Damian Lillard... oh yeah, and you'll have something to fall back on later in life"

STOKED for this team, and not just for next season. I'm trying as hard as I can to not think about post-season potential, and it's so much easier to focus on each game, winning or losing, when our guys are playing HARD. This squad is going to play some exciting basketball, with speed, team defense, and explosive offense.

Also wanted to share: I ended up in 3 fantasy leagues this year, and managed to get some of my favorite Blazers on each team; Batum and Hickson on one, Batum and Aldridge on another, and on my main team, I've got Batum, Mathews, and Hickson :) hurting this week a little bit obviously with neither Nic nor Wes producing well, but in 3rd overall, largely due to 3 Blazers.

(for the other fantasy players, on that team with 3 Blazers, I've also got Kevin Love, Kemba Walker, and Paul George... woooooot!)

@river...Are you seeing what I'm seeing? When LaMarcus is collapsing defenses in the paint, this is a COMPLETELY different team. When he forces doubles and weak side rotations, with adept a passer as he has become, EVERYTHING for this team changes. Ball movement and open/cleaner looks are among the beneficiarys. It is the QUALITY of looks the Blazers have been getting that has been the difference. The FG% has jumped 10-15 percentage points, and winning has been the result. THIS is the Aldridge I would never consider moving. Thank you LaMarcus! Thank you!

While nobody is a bigger Hicky fan than myself, three other Blazers stood out to me in last nights game with NO. I've already mentioned Aldridge. The change in his game cannot be overstated or overvalued for this team. Will Barton repeatedly got himself into the slot, collecting offensive rebounds like headbands late in that second quarter. He had the rep coming into the league of having a nose for the ball and being a good rebounding guard, but I for one was skeptical those abilities would translate at this level. He had a handful of quality looks right at the rim, but just couldn't convert. He will begin to convert. Barton is already showing improvement and that is very encouraging. Stay healthy kid! Lastly, Sasha. Having starting experience in the finals should tell everyone something. Guy is solid. Thank you Will, Sasha, and LaMarcus especially.

I agree BDawg..when LA and JJ both get 20-10s we're a dangerous team. I think they've finally figured out how to play together and the staff has realized Meyers is not ready for big minutes yet. With wings knocking down shots the lanes open up for LA and JJ. I also think LA is getting healthy and starting to find his legs. He looks stronger now than the beginning of the season.

The force was with PO last night v Denver, as Luke posted the most impressive line of his young NBA career. In 26 minutes of action, Babbitt put up 14-8, on 4-7 from behind the arc before eventually fouling out. Luke was part of a trio of Blazers that, collectively, went 52% from 3pt land, 13-25 (Nic and Wes the other contributors). That on a night that coincidentally saw Portland's recent dubious distinction and NBA record in 3pt ineptitude "bested" by their opposition...Denver now holding that "record" going 0-22.

I just wanna point something out. I've noticed how much having Lamarcus has helped with not only the obvious points, defense, rebounds, etc. But because of his style of play, it's actually allowed Damain to play much, much better, and really pick things us quicker. The pick and roll is so amazing between the two of them it's like clockwork. might be the most efficient offensive rythym I've ever seen. Smooth operators the two of them together.

And I don't mean this to say Damian isn't amazing, because he is, but I don't think Lillard would have had as great of performances if it weren't for the Batman & Robin duo of the two of them. And it's only gonna get better for them both, I can tell ya that.

Career high for double doubles in a row for JJ, at 8 (15 on the season).

Over the past 5 games, JJ is avg 17.8 PPG, 14.4 RPG, 1 BPG, and shooting 66% on the season.  Who needs Kevin Love when we are raising our own in JJ at 1/3 the cost and 10 times the better attitude.

Don't look now, Barton now with back-to-backs. Tonight in Los Angeles, the 'Thrill' reached double figures again, scoring 11 points off the bench and again displaying some obvious
growth and maturation. Keep an eye on Barton. If the development continues, Barton will in effect all but eliminate the perceived need at the 2.

Also gotta give a shout out to LaMarcus tonight for standing in against Dwight Howard and taking what replays showed to be no less than 3 consecutive charges from the Laker center, ON THE SAME PLAY, only to be eventually whistled for a foul himself. That play illustrates my earlier point in a different thread where I called out Stern for leaving Silver a mess in his wake. No place in sports for politics. Howard shouldn't have even been allowed to play tonight for blatantly going to the face of Faried...a play that could have been career threatening. Aldridge is now nursing what early reports have called chest contusions...presumably from the above mentioned play. Clean it up Stern.

LaMarcus won the day even though we lost the game. When nobody else was contributing he kept after it. Big respect LA! Also Barton, Freeland and Price have all found their jumpshot..a good thing to see. Getting calls from refs is definitely a perk for being a Laker player. at one pt we had 26 fouls and they had 9 total. Still not enough production to beat anybody tonight..on to the next one!

Barton more and more reminds me of a slightly taller version of Allen Iverson. Wiry and fearless but at time a bit reckless and lacking some confidence within the offense. When his shot is falling he can score in bunches. He blocked a shot and rebounded, played much improved D in LA ..we tend to forget these rookies have been riding the pine for 2 months and don't have much NBA time under their belts yet.

With 8 assists tonight, only Lebron has more 8 assist games of any non-PG in the NBA than Batum.  That's 6 games now for Batum.  Even more encouraging, he's aquired those six 8 assist games over his last 8 games played.  Great defense shutting down Holiday.  "He's hard to take out of the game." - Stotts  Can't blame him.

Against the Knicks last night the whole team stayed aggressive and really showed some defensive improvement. Best ball movement, best balance from multiple players and we protected the ball, rebounded well and got good shots off. Thanks coaching staff for smart rotations and thanks to LaMarcus for playing center and outplaying the defensive player of last season in Tyson Chandler.

3 steals a piece for Wes and Nic v the Grizz last night is indicative of the type of effort needed defensively, on the road against a quality team for a W.  Thank you fellas.  LA with his 5 turnbacks and JJ with 2...very active, very engaged defensively.  Thank you.  A pleasure to watch a team I support that leaves this type of effort on the floor...win OR lose.

I am a fan of players that play with PASSION and PRIDE

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
