Indeed plus Harden's defense is under appreciated he is really solid there. Probably even better than Wesley.

Man I think we really dropped the ball not going after Asik.

James Harden is a proven commodity, I think it would be easier to land a top 5 draft pick in 2013 then to land James H. not to mention what it would do for the Thunder in the draft..... terrible for every team in the west if OKC get a lottery pick and a top level player added to their team in trade for Harden.

    What about this option?

    Houston Rockets receive Lamarcus Aldridge
Portland receives their choice of Donatas Motiejunas, Terrance Jones, Royce White, Jeremy Lamb, Chandler Parsons, or Patrick Patterson. Kevin Martin and Toronto's guaranteed lottery pick.

This way the Rockets get their superstar, LA gets to play in Texas again, and we get a young stud, cap space and a lottery pick.

Of course that is just base compensation we might be able to add in another player or pick as part of the deal.

Houston and Toronto are both likely to be lottery teams this year and trading LA would also likely guarantee us a spot in the lottery as well. If we could get two picks plus our own. That would give us three lottery picks this season. That should be more than enough to guarantee getting someone like Shabazz Muhammad or allow us enough cap space to make a run at James Harden or Tyreke Evans.

In this scenario I would want Donatas Motiejunas, Terrance Jones, Toronto's pick, and Houston's 1st rounder. Ask for the moon and with Houston you might get it.

With this trade our 2012 line-up would be:

    pg - Lillard/Smith
    sg - Matthews/Williams
    sf - Batum/Barton
    pf - J.J./Freeland
    c - Leonard/Motiejunas

Heres a bit of humor. Tom Ziller of SBNation.com writes that Portland Trail Blazers forward Luke Babbitt is a "breakout candidate" for the 2012-13 season.

I hope Tom saved us some of what he's been smokin.

Your talking 2 quality rookies and 2 lottery picks that is a hell of package to get for any player. Your also talking about getting nothing if he leaves. Which he will if we are not competing for a title or a least a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 3 seasons.

Luke could have a "Breakout" season but it will be in the developmental league.

    I agree with Cmeese.

Orlando did not get nearly as much for Dwight Howard.

We could count ourselves lucky to get a trade of that caliber, although I would not trade him for anything less, he is just to good.

I wouldn't do that deal. Reggie Miller said it the best, throughout history there are no dominant big men on horrible teams. There are great guards on horrible teams, but not big men. A dominate big man will make your horrible team at least mediocre.

With Elliot Williams officially out all season should we pursue a deal? I believe we should but maybe him going out will help the rotation. Nolan will now be able to play some minutes at 2 as will Batum if needed. Which will allow one of the four SF's on the team to get some extra minutes.

If we can get some unexpected results from our rooks, that would be such a bonus. Claver,Barton and Freeland especially. Barton i think will make up whatever E.Will would have given us.Claver is more athletic than people give him credit for. A 6'10" sf is super rare. Id love to see him develop into a Hedo type player when Hedo was in Sacramento of course. Freeland id be happy to see him be a morph of Nick Collison and Kurt Thomas.

I think our biggest need is depth. I actually am a fan of Morrison. I think he is a upgrade over Babbit, Sasha, and Claver. His shooting numbers have never been good but he did average 20 pts in teh summer league. Better than Babbit did.

    But back to my point.
Depth is something we need. Players we can trade to acquire depth are :

    Nolan Smith
    Sasha Pav
    Babbit
    Jeffries
    Claver
These are not attractive players for other teams though. We did get some second round draft picks in the Sasha trade I think. I think the direction were going is by developing our own players. I dont think we are going to make any big trades.

We have a GREAT power forward rotation.
Our SG rotation is solid. It may be better than we think. Wes and Barton.
The SF is lacking depth. Morrison might help that in my opinion. Would like to see us improve here.
PG is not to good to me. Ronnie Price will prob surprise me, but Nolan is bad to me.
Center is ok to me. Leonard is good. Freeland will be be able to hold the C down in my opinion.

If we can get another Trade players with  the above list and get a good wing. We would be in a good position. Trades I have in mind are :

    Nolan Smith for Austin Daye.
Nolan Smith, Babbit, Future First Round Pick for Thaddeus Young
Future First Round Pick, Victor Claver for Eric Bledsoe
These are players I think that would help us tremendously.

    Sasha Pav
    Babbit
    Jeffries
These three and a few draft picks, id trade all day. But for what ?
The pickings are slim out there.

Having Thad Young would be a great benefit but to complete we would need to sacrifice Wes & Claver leaving a gap in SG. The next think is the sixers cannot allow to go 9 of their players (till 15 Dec or so) due to different restrictions.

My mind boggles at the fact that we havent invited Krylo Fesenko to camp for a workout. This kid is 25 years old, a gigantic body, tough and has a pretty decent game.Is there something about this kid i dont know ? Is he a head case ? Why did Utah let him go ? He's young enough to grow with our squad and would definitely bang with Meyers in practice. So is he a nut or what ?

I've honestly been thinking a lot about how a thaddeus young trade could benefit the blazers. First, this opens up a ton of offense. I would first start by starting him at small forward, moving batum to shooting guard, and have Wesley Matthews play the sixth man role (which I think he would thrive in). Trade JJ Hickson, Sasha Pavlovic, and Luke Babbit. This gives a little more flexibility at the wing that can give Will Barton more minutes at both the 2 and 3. Although we lose JJ as Center/ Backup PF, This gives a solid three man rotation with Meyers Leonard starting, and have Joel Freeland play some at the 4 and 5 when either LaMarcus or Meyers need a rest. Also, Thaddeus can play the 4 at points where they go small and Jeffries and fill in some minutes as well... i feel like the possibilites would be endless if that deal got done...

It also would benefit the Sixers because it takes a way a player who truly needs minutes at their already stacked wing positions as well as giving them a real power forward to start.

Well I hear Doug Colllins loves TYoung. But I think they traded Iggy because they want Evan Turner to grow.
They have Dorrel Wright, JRich, Evan Turner, Nick Young, maybe they can let go of one wing LOL

But TYoung can play the 4 which is something they need.....which is why they might take Hickson for him...
