JJ hickson + babbit +matthews+pick consideration for ibaka sefelocia - extend him right away and start him at center (gets rebounds and blocks)

i think people are overthinking this- okc will resign harden, ibaka will be the one leaving, and the next season so will sefalocia, jj is  a decent fill for less money and mathews is a good fill for comperable money.

@ jamsmashers, Man Alive!  Bringin' Serge here... would b AWESOME!!!  It's what I've been callin' for 4eva!  :)  I'd do jamsmashers deal all day long baby!  LOVE IT!  IF we could do that... THAT would b a steal!  Not to mention, we'd get Sefolosha (an underrated VERY good defensive player; VERY good replacement for Wes.  I'd b sad to c Wes go but if it means that we could get Ibaka... I'd still cheer 4 u & best of luck w/ ur new team Wes ;)  Ibaka is young AND athletic & the way he plays the 5, him LMA & Meyers CAN ALL b out on the floor @ the same time! (I know w/ that arrangement, we have no 3 guard; well actually, we CAN merge the 2-3 w/ Nic! :)

@ Cory, as ALMOST ALWAYS, I'm w/ u on that of course ;)

Vernon Macklin can be asset to some teams. If Suns, Bucks, Nets, and Lakers all have interest in him, maybe he can be apart of a deal. Maybe if he sees some minutes during garbage time or when someone has foul trouble and he performs. The he can be part of a deal involving picks.

I think we still have a few moves to make. Subtle, but moves nonetheless. There are still a few positions that give me pause. For instance, if Sasha is kept, count on Babbitt not getting very much run. Good shooter, but a bit to tentative for my liking. But who knows, Stotts might make a Peja Stojakovic out of him. Let us pray. Contrary to what alot of people might say, i like our look at pg. Lilard, & Smith [ who if plays like he did in summer league] will be a nice two piece spicy, with Price as the biscuit. Wesley,Elliot and Barton at the sg spot. Heres where it gets tricky. At sf, we have Batum,Babbitt,Claver, and now Sasha. { http://youtu.be/du7Y5Y6Lo0c } Sasha i think if kept will be a great back-up for Batum. Claver is still raw, but at 6'10", we'd be foolish not to at least mold him into what might possibly become our very own Lamar Odom, best case scenario. And Hedo Turkolu for the worst. That leaves Babbit. Babbit would be a great player for lets say... a Chicago to have,or Boston maybe. Only because those teams play such team defense that his mistakes would be insignificant on defense, and considered playing with house money on offense. The only time a logjam at the sf spot works, is if they can all handle the rock and create their own shots. Pavlovic certainly can, and with that new contract, Batum can certainly afford to invest into a few Steve Nash Ballhandling videos. At the pivot spot ? Enigma. L.A. ,both JJ's,and Freeland can handle some spot duty, but would be clearly out of their element except in certain situations. And truth be told, thats going to work in our favor alot this season. We still need that Brutus Beefcake in the middle to tastefully crack heads. That Blazer Fans is the missing piece. Leonard will come along, but we need to concentrate on having a real two headed monster in the middle. Greg Monroe would have been a good start. Rip City Baby !

if this laker trade goes through, and Bynum goes to philli; they will end up with 4 centers- kwami, hawes, bynum, and vucuvic. They are lacking a pf. I think portland would be interested in Hawes. 6.5 mil a yr for 2 yrs is an amazing contract for a big man. Great trading peace a yr from now, and he can teach leanord the ropes of a big man for a yr/ yr and a half. With freeland and LA jj hickson is the best peace we can give phili. Wright can be our backup and has one yr left on his contract. We can combo JJ, second round pick, clavor, and the guy we got the rights to from ny (consider throw babbit in in return for our second rd pick) We can  take a hard look at wright and concider a smaller extention but i think this team would push us up now and not hurt us in the long run.

Yeah if Hickson does not Veto the trade I would def. do that trade.
JJ Hickson, Future Second Round pick , Claver for
    Dorrel Wright and Spencer Hawes.

Spencer isnt the best defender. But he can definitely help our inside scoring and teach Meyers some inside moves.

So.... does anyone think that Afflalo could be available from Orlando for a nice price, now that they're in asset / youth acquiring mode...? The new GM Hennigan doesn't seem to be a very good bargainer, given what he got out of the Dwight trade (he rejected the Nets offer for THIS?!).

Vucuvic is going to Orlando as part of the trade so that leaves them with only three Centers, at 3 million Kwami is cheap enough to keep especially considering Bynum's injury history. Philly also is pretty good at PF even if they do not have any big names. Lavoy Allen played really well in the playoffs and will likely be the starter for them there. Arnett Moultrie is a quality back up who will benefit from the additional minutes as a rookie. Philly also likes to go small letting Thaddeus Young play the 4 so while I like the thought I am not sure Philly thinks they are as bad off as you do. However, this is one to consider putting on the back burner is case things change before the trade deadline.

I think Orlando got more out of this deal than people realize. Afflalo is a stud simple as that and considering all the bad contracts being signed lately getting him for 7.5 million over 3-4 years is a good thing for Orlando. Harrington is another nice piece to add to the puzzle at an average of 7 million is slightly over paid but is a nice versatile piece to help develop the additional draft picks even better that the last two years of the deal are only partially guaranteed. They also added some young pieces in Moe Harkless and Nikola Vucevic. Add in three first round picks, the loss of Richardson's and Duhon's contract, and the likely high draft pick they will get this year and you got a nice rebuild in place.

They take back only 17 million in cap space versus the 26 plus they would have gotten from New Jersey and they have a chance to make some real moves.  If they can somehow convince Turkoglu to not keep his player option this team suddenly has 20 million in cap room for next summer. That is not bad for a team who was staring at a 67 million dollar payroll this year.

I just do not see the aggression out of our front office. We made a few small changes to our roster while the Lakers went out and did everything they could to get better. Same with the Nets that is the kind of attitude we need in Portland.

Attitude we have, attractive demographic, we do not. This is the best thing that could have happened to small market teams. A blessing in disguise really.  The Heat,Lakers,Nets and NY have painted bulleyes on their backs. Every team is going to give them their best. All day ,every day. We may even see more teams playing team ball. I for one hope that every single Blazer plays with a chip on their shoulder the size of Lillards. Personally, i love a challenge. I hope Rip City does too.

I understand that we didn't have an Al Harrington type contract, but I really wish we could have gotten AI from Philly instead of Denver. We could have given Matthews and picks or something. Denver is going to be really good next year. I don't know if this would be their starting line up but could you imagine Lawson, AI, Chandler, Gallinari, and McGee. Scary.

Denver is a scary team they have a lot of depth and if McGee plays well they are good at pretty much every spot.

Lawson and Miller is an awesome duo at PG.
Iggy is awesome at SG even if his game fits SF better if Fournier can be good then they will be fine here.
Chandler, Gallanari, and Brewer is a very solid SF trio even better if you add in Iggy.
Faried is a beast but Randolph has yet to live up to his potential this is arguably their worst postition
McGee, Mozgov, Anderson and Koufos gives them a lot of depth here but they would likely be better served trading one of these players for a more traditional PF.

If I am Denver I try and move Gallanari for a more traditional SG. Someone like Batum would be a perfect replacement for him.

Would like to see Portland make a run at the Brazilian Blur before the Lake Show bests us yet one more time before this season even starts.  At 29, Barbosa still has alot of game left, proving as much in the Olympics this summer.  Neil, make this happen.... before the Lakers add a greyhound to their championship caliber stable.

Siccolo that idea is pretty good. I agree both parties would definitely benefit from that deal. Instead of claver I would like to use pavlovic because clavers potential in the nba has yet to be seen. There is already a logjam at small forward but taking wright back wouldn't be too bad as long as Babbitt could be sent to the d league

@Abarrer yeah we can give Pav also. That might even be more sweetening in Phillys favor to which is good. They are looking for a PF also. Hmmm hopefully

I dont see why we would go after Barbosa. With Barton, Elliot, and Wes we have too much at SG.
SF is also a clogged position but Babbit, Claver, Pav and maybe Jeffries. BUT None of these guys can be a full time back up small forward. Not much talent here.

I would like to seem them pick up Mikel Pietrus. If not him then Alonzo Gee, or Derrick Brown. All these guys maybe are very skilled players on the offensive end. Pietrus is also known for is exceptional defense. He can bring a good 3 point shooting off the bench too. Pietrus is a french player to, so that may be nice for Nic.

These are the best FA small forwards that are not nut jobs (Josh Howard, Matt Barnes)

One player I would love to have is Ben Wallace (of course for veteran's minimum...). Apparently he wants to come back to the NBA, but Pistons have a full roster. If we waive Pavlovic, the necessary room could open up. He's OLD, but the former DPOY could really teach our young physical center Meyers how to better grab rebounds. Just not sure if that would be worth the cost of waiving Pavlovic + the vet's minimum + and his attitude...
