Not once in that post do you say who the F "Williams" is. Does he have a first name or is he like Nene or Cher?

I might suggest that Freeland would be the starter at 5. But that is a minor difference.

Via Ric Bucher- Blazers, Wolves Talking Trade
The Trail Blazers and Timberwolves are discussing a deal that would bring Portland free-agent forward Nicolas Batum to Minnesota in exchange for two future first-round draft picks and a veteran small forward acquired from a third team, a league source told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

lol.  who's ric's source and who leaked it?  sounds like horse crap to me.  "a veteran small forward acquired from a 3rd team"?

    What team?
    What "veteran small forward"?
What teams are they talking to?

Why would a numnutz like ric report such a flaky pile of crap?   Man, like Olshey said, hardly any of the stuff we hear actually happens.

I'm kinda sick of all the speculative garbage, I just wanna hear someone say "DEAL DONE... BATUM HAS BEEN TRADED".  Till then, this is all just crap.  no offense Hawes, not you, this Ric dude is just a headline seeker.

@L Dizzle,  Elliot Williams played for Duke and Memphis in College. We drafted him in 2010. He played off and on since do to injuries. He had a knee injury in 2010-2011 that sidelined him basically that whole season. Then as soon as he started to show promise in 2011-2012 season, he went down with a shoulder injury. His stats don't show his worth because he obviously hasn't been able to really play yet, but I believe he is totally healthy at this point and He is still under contract and he is high energy and a good prospect. He is 23 yo, 6-5, 185 Lbs very good speed and hops, seemed to have good basket ball IQ and could probably be a defensive presence as well  he plays the SG he could back up Mathews, who is also on contract, we are good at SG.

    On Batum:
    Minnesota gets Batum
Memphis gets Derrick Williams and our first round draft pick (Top 5 protected)
    Portland gets Rudy Gay
I like Gay more than Iguodala, sure he is getting paid more, but is 3 years younger, and the numbers he has been putting up are much better - Iguodala has really been slipping bit by bit since 2008:

Year Team GP GS MPG FG% 3P% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG
    2004–05 Philadelphia 82 82 32.8 .493 .331 .743 5.7 3.0 1.7 0.6 9.0
    2005–06 Philadelphia 82 82 37.6 .500 .354 .754 5.9 3.1 1.6 0.3 12.3
    2006–07 Philadelphia 76 76 40.3 .447 .310 .820 5.7 5.7 2.0 0.4 18.2
    2007–08 Philadelphia 82 82 39.5 .456 .329 .721 5.4 4.8 2.1 0.6 19.9
    2008–09 Philadelphia 82 82 39.9 .473 .307 .724 5.7 5.3 1.6 0.4 18.8
    2009–10 Philadelphia 82 82 38.9 .443 .310 .733 6.5 5.8 1.7 0.7 17.1
    2010–11 Philadelphia 67 67 36.9 .445 .337 .693 5.8 6.3 1.5 0.6 14.1
    2011–12 Philadelphia 62 62 35.6 .454 .394 .617 6.1 5.5 1.7 0.5 12.4

    Gay:
Year Team GP GS MPG FG% 3P% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG
    2006–07 Memphis 78 43 27.0 .422 .364 .727 4.5 1.3 .9 .9 10.8
    2007–08 Memphis 81 81 37.0 .461 .346 .785 6.2 2.0 1.4 1.0 20.1
    2008–09 Memphis 79 78 37.3 .453 .351 .767 5.5 1.7 1.2 .8 18.9

    2010–11 Memphis 54 54 39.9 .471 .396 .805 6.2 2.8 1.7 1.1 19.8
    2011-12 Memphis 65 65 37.3 .455 .312 .791 6.4 2.3 1.5 .8 19.0
Gay has also been mentioned a lot in trade rumours.

I agree that Hickson needs to be resigned at (nearly) all costs. He just plays. He's so active and aggressive. We've lacked that for a while. We are going to look like absolute fools if we let him get away.

I'm all for a Batum sign and trade. Would prefer most to Iggy though, as I'm not sure he'll give us much more than Batum. I love the idea of getting Derrick Williams and a first rounder.

Would be thrilled to land Gay, but that seems like wishful thinking, to me.

I think the Sign in Trade scenarios are just smoke at this point, like Olshey said, we are not gonna net a return worth letting Batum walk. Like or Not. I think Batum will be here this season. Which I for one am glad if he stays.

cameraOn, who's reporting that?  how much truth is there to that?  Fans would like rudy gay.  He was a team USA candidate... I don't think he made the team, or maybe he can yet, but I think harden got one of the last 2 spots over him.

Rudy is a good shooter, he don't take a lot of tre's that I've seen and that's not his strength.  He's also not a strong player, but he is pretty good defensively, picks pockets, i'd say adequate rebounder, maybe just as Batum is.  but he can pass, block, I like him.  I liked him in college and he's done pretty well in the nba.  If there's any truth to portland getting him over batum, I think fans will like him more, and I find it hard to believe this could actually be true.

Well, I don't think we should match the offer, so getting anything is better than nothing, especially if it's picks and a player (preferably Derrick Williams).

I agree, I can't see us getting Rudy Gay in this scenario, but would be psyched if we did.

That being said, we should resign Batum. Sign Hickson too, and if we have enough sign Joel Pryz to a one year deal. then are team would be.
    L. Aldridge              M. Leonard
    L. Babbitt               D. Lilliard
    W. Matthews          V. Claver
    E. Williams            J. Freeland
    N. Smith               Batum
    W. Barton              JJ. Hickson

sweet, yeah, I get bleacher report updates on my phone and they just texted me a minute ago.  awesome.  Kinda weird that it's only 1 year, no?   I mean, he's a restricted FA and all, and I didn't even hear of any other teams offering him anything.  I think if he held out a bit, he woulda been offered bank, but maybe he wants to be here.... that's a really good sign.  Gives portland a year to evaluate and get him inked to a better deal  :)

If we can get these guys on the court at the same time we will be a good/great 5 I think!
    L Aldridge
    JJ Hickson
    Batum
    D.Lilliard
Center is a toss up, (J.Freeland/M.Leonard/J.Pryzbilla) but I think M Leonard sooner then later.

Obviously W.Matthews is a starter but . W Matthews and Hickson can switch up starts, and off the bench, as they alternate the positions they play.

I think 2 first round picks for Batum would be a steal for Portland. This gives Portland building blocks, and cap space in the coming years. In 2 years when this cba thing goes down Portland is going to be one of very few teams sitting pretty.

Indiana will acquire Ian Mahinmi (4-years, 16 million) in a sign and trade with Dallas. Darren Collison and Danhtay Jones go to Dallas.
UMM So maybe The Roy Hibbert deal is not a done thing. I can only hope that this  means we can still sign Hibbert even  though I thought the Pacers would keep him?

Yeah I honestly think now that Collison and jones were traded in a sign and trade. That gives Indy the money to sign Hibbert to his large contract, so nothing like that will prob happen,  but it would be cool if it did.

I agree that he could have probably held out and got more, but maybe he did want to stay, or maybe he feels like if he performs well again with PDX for a whole year, he'll be able to make way more than if he held out this year. Either way, I'm thrilled to have him, as I think he's one of the most overlooked guys in the league.

I'm happy we have another year to evaluate as well. Now we just have to swing a nice sign and trade for Batum.

Hopefully any deal with the Wolves for Batum includes Luke Ridnour coming to us. We are sorely lacking some veteran guard leadership. Ridnour isn't a superstar, but could be a great foil for Lillard, calming things down when the rookie's inexperience shows.

Like our Hickson signing, and bringing over the two European rookies. They should have enough experience to not be overwhelmed and give us some great minutes.

cmeese47, to tell you the gospel, id have been more willing to pay Hickson on his potential, than id gamble our future on Batums. JJ plays his position with maybe not the best of skill, but his vigor is undeniable. Show me some of that Nic, and i'll chip in for your salary my damn self.

    heck yeah.

I'm so glad about hickson, a power force portland needs.  provides a strong spark off the bench, keeps opponents  on their toes, potential to play alongside meyers and LA, just a great move for portland and one less need to worry about.

yeah, batum, if he wants to be with his buddy in minnesota, I like his future, but I don't think he'll be missed.  He wants to be a superstar, but he hasn't acted like it.

Is the door completely shut on hibbert or is that still a possibility?   Cuz really, if portland can get him and land Iguodala (he's rumored to be going to every team in the NBA), well, I'd actually expect portland to make the playoffs... and the right coach could have them contending in the west.

and I don't think that's overly optimistic.    Hibbert, LA, Iguodala, Matthews, Lillard, with Hickson and Barton coming in off the bench, claver, freeland, elliot, this could be a very good team.... with a couple pieces of the puzzle filled... hibbert and iguo.  lol.

I've lost track of Ridnour since college.  Has he been starting and would he accept a role behind Lillard?  I still remember when Luke got off the bus at U of O and he was carrying a basketball.  Coach said he never went anywhere without a basketball in his hand and he was born to play.  He handled a ball like nobody else, just an incredible dribbler.  I'm not sure what's become of him, but ball handling skills like his do not diminish, so if he's accepting of a backup role, well, portland would be in good hands when lillards on the bench.

I thought Minn said they were going to go ahead with an offer sheet if Portland didn't agree to a sign and trade for Batum by tonight. Well it's already tomorrow in Minnesota They can't do it and Olshey knows it, he's got Minn by the nuts and is trying to get more maybe trying to get Williams with the two 1st rounders. If Olshey pulls it off I will be very impressed.

When Olshey was interviewed, he said that he hadn't seen any offers beneficial enough to Portland and he didn't want to let Batum go for nothing; and my understanding is that Batum hasn't signed an offer sheet with them yet?  But Olshey also said he's open to listening to offers.  He joked when asked about Batum wanting to be in Minnesota, saying he must like bugs and frost bite or something.  lol.   that's what I was saying before, batum's agent was talking about how his heart's in minnesota and all this BS.  I mean really, who dreams of playing in minnesota.  nobody.  so we'll see what happens.   I don't buy the rumors of 2 first rounders and a player... "from another team"... that's bullcrap.  batum isn't worth 2 first rounders in my opinion, but i guess that depends where those picks are.  and to get another player with those picks?   that's just media crap.  olshey hasn't said that's on the table, minnesota certainly wouldn't leak information like that, so it's just some reporter trying to grab a headline so more people follow him on twitter or something.

Minnesota believes they will be a contender with Batum so two low first round picks is what they believe they are offering

welll, 2 low picks could potentially turn into 1 lottery pick.  hmmmm.  have they actually offered it or is that just some media rat speculating about feasible possibilities?   I guess we'll just hear what's up when the dealing's done.

cmeese47, to tell you the gospel, id have been more willing to pay Hickson on his potential, than id gamble our future on Batums. JJ plays his position with maybe not the best of skill, but his vigor is undeniable. Show me some of that Nic, and i'll chip in for your salary my damn self.

Hickson is like a 6'9" Weslew Matthews with more potential. He'd tear someone's head off if he thought it would get his team the W. It was a great pickup last year and it's a great signing this year.

I actually don't understand why Batum is getting more money, but I DO understand the need to either keep him or get pieces in return. But, like boomtown said, nothing's an official report, and all the three-team deal or straight-up sign-and-trade rumors taste fishy with a robust bouquet of bull crap.

What do you guys think of picking up up Elton Brand off of waivers and then doing a 3 way trade {batum for Iggy}...  Historically players have great years following a summer on Team USA ( just ask Love, Westbrook, and Rose]... plus i think the chemistry of iggy and brand will go great with aldridge and Lilard... Any thoughts?

I am willing to admit when I am wrong. I thought for sure with all the forwards and stuff we were getting we wouldn't resign Hickson. That being said, good move Blazers.

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
