Per @Joe Freeman, Blazers GM Neil Olshey has not received signed offer sheet from Nicolas Batum. Did not indicate whether engaged in S&T

Batum hasn't even signed an offer sheet guys. Minnesota can't afford to offer him one, they are just bluffing. Knowing we are going to match, they aren't going to make the significant  movements on their roster needed to pay Nico.

Hopefully Batum's moronic agent can now open up some negotiations with the Blazers organization so we can get him officially back in red and black! Tired of hearing about his comments about what his client says.

As far as McGee goes, I don't know that his off-court persona and work ethic fit in with the vision for this team.  Plus, he's restricted, and I don't think Olshey would have considered tendering an offer sheet until we see how the Batum situation played out, as it locks up that cap space.

I have no doubt that he will make a play for at least one other free agent though, and soon.

Matthews has better work effort then harden plus when Wesley was coming off the bench he was a better player then harden overall, everyone wants to trade Matthews but don't realize he is key to our defense along with batum so I believe we need to make sure Matthews stays a blazer, he can shine, just look at the finals, harden looked lost offensively and defensively against lebron and d-wade and Matthews didn't struggle against the heat during the regular season

I don't get why people are always so quick to want to trade Wes. He's one of my favorites. He plays so hard, and with so much grit, it's difficult not to root for him. That said, I'd totally swap him for Harden, whose future is really bright, whereas Matthews is probably about as good as he's going to get, with the exception of probably knocking down 3s more consistently as he gets older.

Real happy an offer sheet hasn't been signed yet. It's so hard to see what's really happening during this time, but I grow more and more confident in Olshey's abilities every day.

Solid pump fake by the Wolves today. I give it 4 out of 5 Al Jeffersons. - z harper
Latest from T.C.: Looks like Thurs will come & go with no offer sheet sent to Blazers and no S-T, although there was lots of talk about both - j zgoda

Yeah well I'm sure there is lots of bluffing going on for both sides. I just hope some other team doesn't come sliding in with a big money offer sheet for Batum that will end all this for both sides. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.

If an east coast squad comes with a nonsensical offer, that would be easier to swallow, but a divisional team, we have to match.

@ uprised. Are team even as is. Is way better then you are giving credit for. I don't think we will be a lottery pick next year, I think we will be competitive with all the other teams out there.  Batum has come up in all kinds of talks since off season, just none that Blazers management felt were worth getting rid of him. I hope you eat my words when you see it, if Batum does indeed stay. And if he doesn't, watch in the years to come and uyou will know I was right, because he will be a allstar caliber player, as soon as this year even. You obviously haven't paid attention to Batums career or do you know much about this team. Aldridge is as good as ANY player in this league, he should have been an ALLSTAR in 2010-2011, but got snubbed, He was an ALLSTAR in 2011-2012 season. His number were great last year and he was injured part of the season. Batum has never had injuries and will only improve astronomically, when an offense is designs around him  and ALdridge and Lilliard. You are a fool. Mathwes had an off year last year, but who wouldn't with Mcmillan lack luster crap last year. Mathews will be great this year, and Hickson  he is/could  be a 20/10 guy by seasons end. Not to mention are rookies and euro  league pick ups, who by the way were drafted by the blazers in 2006, and 2009 and both have played good time in spanish league and euro league games. THey may not pan out, but they are way better then unproven draft picks in the future. This years draft was a good class, but there is no guarantee what you will get next year on draft pciks you got by given up seasoned player, no matter what league they came from.

I dunno what the debate is even about at this point. Batum will stay, I doubt Minnesota even submits the offer sheet to the league because why would they nix those contracts to acquire the necessary cap room just to be shot down? Batum should have a contract with Portland in the next couple of days I'm sure.  Then we'll see a trade or a free agency signing (or two) from Olshey, a new coach and president, and that will be it. Period.

Have you seen the terms of the contract? It's 46 million and one of the stipulations is that if Batum is traded after he is signed then he gets a 15 percent kicker. That's a horrible contract to have unless we really want to keep him for the next 4 years. Definitely adds something to think about for Olshey.

    From Joe Freeman-
Kahn says Batum has not yet signed an offer sheet but will Sunday at 5 p.m. eastern.

So who has been leaking out all of this info that he had indeed sign an offer sheet with the Wolves already? It looks like they waived Webster and traded Miller for a 2nd round pick, so they are definitely making room for Nic. But why? Olshey has said all along that Portland is matching.

Looks like Wolves are still hell-bent on working out a sign and trade (via Freeman)
Kahn said Wolves' preference remains to work out a sign-and-trade for Batum before Sunday, hopeful that can happen.
My opinion is that if they want a sign and trade then pony up Derrick Williams and a first-round pick!

let's all take it easy on tha borad, we all want the Blazers to be the best they cann, everyone has their own opinion, every GM even has their own opinion of every player. Just like me, my opinion is that Batum isn't yet worth a long contract for an all star caliber player. But thats me, I love the additions of Claver and Freeland, great timing to do it too.

I think we should sign and trade Nic and try to get Williams or Budinger, Ridnour and a 1st round pick. We let Williams/Budinger, Claver and Babbit battle for starter. Ridnour covers the vet back-up point and tutors Lillard and Nolan. Then there is Wes starting with Elliot coming off the bench with Barton. Lamarcus at starting 4 with Hickson backing him up and I think we should also look at Anthony Randolph if he hasn't been signed or whatever happened to Jeff Pendergraph?!!! At center we resign Pryz and start him while he tutors Leonard and Freeland. Depending on how well the young centers start to devolp and transition into the NBA maybe have the most ready take over the starting role around the half way point. With that maybe sign another summer league guy for a cheap contract and save some cap room for next offseason where you can try to sign a star/#1 option who will be a leader for the team and pull the team together when it needs it, also that will take some off the pressure off of L.A. so he doesn't have to be the guy everytime. Those are just my thoughts on this whole rebuilding process.

Derrick Williams is not even close (in the terms of value and being a crucial part to succesfull team) to Batum and will never be. Like Olshey said, they don't have enough assets to make a serious sign-n-trade bid for Batum. Two 1st rounders and Pekovic could be only reasonable think I may consider but eventuallz I would turn it down anyway. I'd never let him go unless in mid season for Rudy Gay' calibre player ( and will not strenght up a rival/our division team)

This right here is whats up. If its doable that is. Williams and Buddinger strengthen our three spot. Lillard gets to learn from Ridnour.First round pick goes in the wallet. Thats the only scenarion semi acceptable. We're still short a servicable big in the pivot though. Maybe B. Haywood on the cheap since he's been waived. Or was he amnestied ? I forgot.

Williams numbers are not that much worse than Batum's overall if you factor in playing time. He FG% and 3pt% are well below Batum's and that is an issue but his rebounding is much better. Williams who is still on the rookie scale contract still has plenty of trade value if he does not work out. Getting him and at least one pick would bring nice value for Batum if we can get an additional pick that would make the trade that much better. At this point we need to make a decision make Minnesota a take it or leave it offer and make them make a decision.

If they resign Batum they need to just make him our number 1 or 2 option on offense to make him happy and be glad that they didn't just let him go. He could be the guy on offense and that way he won't just fall out of the game and start standing in a corner watching. If he is going to be the 3rd or 4th option on offense then why resign him to for that much?

cmeese-You spend too much time looking at pure numbers.  Numbers aren't everything.  Maybe Williams has somewhat similar numbers when scaled for playing time but then again, a lot of his playing time came in junk minutes, or at times when only reserves were playing. Batum started all year, in case you forgot, and his numbers have been steadily increasing.  Williams has some trade value but he impressed last year and I don't think we wanna trade away another guy who turns out to be really good.

I hope we don't go after JaVale McGee, why on earth would we offer him 13 million dollars a year? People are saying Nic's not worth the 11-12 per year, but McGee certainly isn't. You won't see an offer for him.

Batum should be the number 2 on offense, if you can really rank them.  He's the second-best player on the roster as of now, and having Lillard and a coach other than Nate should help him thrive even more in the offense. Just watch, he'll be worth the contract once he blossoms even more.

Talk about likely to increase Derrick Williams was just a rookie last year I would honestly expect to see his numbers go up. I want to make a splash in free agency next year and locking up 11 million to Batum will not allow that to happen. Swap Williams contract for Batums and we have enough money to make a max contract offer to someone in 2013.
