This team needs leadership more than it needs a PG or a scorer.  If Portland is going to be successful for years to come they need someone to take control.

I just do not see that type of player available at the deadline.

If I was a GM and I see what I see from the Blazer organization right now. I would offer you 2 waterboys and the option to a Chris Farley lookin clumsy dancer and tell you you would be lucky to get that for just about anybody on this team. Everyone knows we are desparate so any deal is not going to go our way. Not sure how tomorrow and the next day will pan out but I have a feeling we are going to stand pat, Kinda like making a kid that has been potty trained sit in his own dirty diaper. I almost agree with my last sentiment. On the bright side the Knicks are worse off than us all that talent and still cant put it together.

We will have a leader in LA at some point in his career. Kobe and CP3 are not shopped every day. We need pieces around our star, if those pieces be a star player, so be it; if not we can settler for a DJ augustine or a Bludso. Our vets are getting old, having someone like Andre would be nice as well, but getting players to grow with LA is priority now I think.

    From Chad Ford's Chat-
     Taylor (Rip City)

I have class in twenty minutes so we'll have to make this quick. Is jamal crawford going anywhere and are the blazers part of any new rumors?
    Chad Ford-

Don't want you to miss class Taylor. Let's just put this way. Either the Blazers find a new home for Raymond Felton and Jamal Crawford (who have quietly orchestrated a mutiny ever since Nate McMillan chewed them out in a video session a while back) or they'll probably have to let Nate go. If I'm a Blazer fan ... I'd rather lose Felton and Crawford. They won't get a lot for either guy, but there is such a thing as addition by subtraction.

    From Chris Broussard via Blazersedge-
The Celtics offered Paul Pierce to Portland -- I'm not sure what they asked for in return -- but the Blazers were not interested because of the two years and $32 million remaining on Pierce's contract. The Blazers are positioning themselves to have tons of cap room this summer and they don't want to do anything to eliminate their space as they try to rebuild around LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum. The Blazers continue to shop the rest of their roster, particularly Gerald Wallace, Ray Felton, Marcus Camby and Jamal Crawford.

The Lakers called Portland recently to inquire about a possible trade for Crawford.
    ...
The Suns want to re-sign [Aaron] Brooks at the right price and intend to visit him in China during the championship series. Portland and Sacramento also have interest in Brooks.

Please let the Suns resign Brooks if he signs for the rest of the season he forfeits becoming a restricted free agent and Portland or anyone can sign him without Phoenix being able to match.

I was really hoping that the Dwight Howard trade back then that involved Gerald Wallace would go down.. Especially at the level he's been playing this season, the 'what ifs' become greater. First round picks are extremely valuable this season with monster draft prospects. GW's salary is a concern that will probably limit Portland's moves when the free agency begins, since Portland looks poised to make a splash. Now the market sees that GW might not worth the money he's being paid right now, and teams aren't offering anything for GW but their bad contracts. He's a great player, but Portland will be lucky to just find an expiring contract in return for GW. He has no trade value as of now.

I'm at least glad we still have some salary space going into the next season, with Camby and Felton's expiring contracts (and perhaps Jamal's). Adding up to about 18M, that could probably secure Batum with a long contract and snag a young center like Javale Mcgee. I'm excited / concerned to see how Portland does during the offseason. ("get Cody Zeller from Indiana!!")

As long as we get a good draft pick I support this trade 200%. If not, (highly likely) at least get LA's Goudelock guy (some weird ass name i can't recall). 3 struggling players all changing scenes. I think its a fair deal.

[ slaps across both sides of face with white glove] Snap out of it Man !! The game will go on ! I dont care if they trade, dump or delegate Felton & Crawford to the D-League, and bring in 5'0 Ziftar Bozeek from Mogadishu. We need people with the testicular fortitude to win. I dont care if he's short, tall, overweight, dyslexic or mute, just so long as he is competitive, plays his position, and is totally void of excuses. Whoever is hungriest eats. Pow ! Just like that. We need five soldiers who are as close as the fingers on a hand. Who hang their hats on "D",and bring the offensive pain.

Lets face facts, even if the basketball god's smile on the team and they make it to the playoffs, there is no doubt about the likelihood of them getting handled and sent home in the first round. Its a great opportunity, i think, to dump the misfits and hit control alt delete on 60% of the current squad.

As to what the pick could be, its anyone's guess.
Here's a great resource for Future picks via REALGM
    Minnesota owns Utah's pick-
2012 first round draft pick from Utah
Utah's own 2012 first round pick to Minnesota (top 14 protected in the 2012 draft and top 12 protected in the 2013 draft). If Utah has not conveyed a first round pick to Minnesota by 2014 and also if Utah's own 2014 first round is not within the top 9 picks, then Minnesota will have the option to swap their own 2014 first round pick with Utah's own 2014 first round pick. If Minnesota does not receive a first round pick by the 2013 draft and also does not swap 2014 first round picks with Utah, then Minnesota will receive Utah's own 2014 second round pick. [Minnesota - Utah, 7/13/2010]

And the Lakers own Dallas' 2012 Pick
2012 first round draft pick from Dallas
Dallas' own 2012 first round draft pick to the L.A. Lakers (top 20 protected in the 2012 draft, top 20 protected in 2013, top 20 protected in 2014, top 20 protected in 2015, top 20 protected in 2016, top 20 protected in 2017 and unprotected in the 2018 Draft). Lets see what pick it is before getting too excited. The Utah pick is heavily protected and as it stands right now, we would be able to act on the Dallas pick the Lakers own. Of course, we could be getting LA's 1st rounder, but that would be 20-25.

If I remember correctly, everyone on here ragged on the guy all the time when he was with the team. We better get a dang good pick in the draft if this goes down or else I will be very upset.

Getting the Utah pick will be an unfair steal for us anyways. 20-25th pick still sounds great to me. With the draft being so deep, i believe we'll still have pretty good options in the late first round. Mason Plumlee (C Duke), Fab Melo(C Syracuse) or Kevin Jones (PF UWV) will make me very happy...

    From ESPN LA-
The Lakers revisited talks to acquire Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley on Wednesday, multiple league sources told ESPNLosAngeles.com. Several variations of the trade have been discussed. One would land Beasley on the Lakers in a three-team deal that would send Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford to the Wolves and Luke Ridnour from Minnesota to Portland. Los Angeles would give up one of its two 2012 first round draft picks in the deal and use its $8.9 million trade exception, acquired when it traded Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks in December, to absorb Beasley's approximate $6.3 million salary. Portland would also receive the Lakers' first round pick.
Looks like we are definitely holding out for a pick and want Ridnour instead of Blake. Same contract situation but a better player.
