B-Roy, you are the man. I'm so proud and thankful for what you've done over this short period of time for the Blazers, for Rip City, for the game in general. You brought back the 6th man in Portland and we couldn't be a happier bunch of fans. Blazers 'til I die. Brandon, you are a true All-Star and a true warrior, just like Larry Miller said and I couldn't be happier for the way you are ending your career. Started as a Blazer and ended as a Blazer and that is how I hope we all go out here in this world of the National Basketball Association. I have the utmost respect for you and the way you handled your injuries and the end of your professional career. I couldn't be happier for you and I wish you the BEST of luck for your future with your family and health. As a city/state, Rip City, and myself, can't thank you enough! Thank you for bringing the exciting game of professional basketball and love for the Blazers back into our lives, my life especially. You will always be the man, ROY. <3

    Much love,
    Brie Aguon

Brandon Roy!  The name alone brings excitement and hope!  My heart broke a bit when your retirement was announced.  Your name will forever be linked to the Trail Blazers.  There are far too many spine-tingling moments to even count, but I will tell you that the 4th quarter against the Mav's was quite amazing!  But your interview right after the game now breaks my heart even more.  You said that there were times that you weren't sure if you would play again.  Thank you for your hardwork, dedication and the memories.  You will be missed!  The #7 jersey better retire with you!

I've got tears in my eyes as I write this--thank you so much for all the great memories that you gave to us--we'll never forget what you did for this franchise--I can't believe that your knees gave out, but you are right to leave now while you can still play with your kids! Bless you and we love you, Kathy & Jim Watkins, season ticket holders since 1979.

B-Roy brought the Blazers back to a respectable team and really has been a tribute to the PNW for a long time. Not many come around like #7. Hope to see you around the game in the future you have too much leadership and knowledge of the game to step completely away. Your teammates always looked up to you and I know young players could take a lot from what you have left to give. Thank you for all the memories and clutch shots. You are always going to be part of Rip City and Blazernation. Good Luck in the future we will always be rooting for you.

Brandon, thanks for the memories!  I was at the RG watching your rookie season.  Watched you help turn this franchise around.  Was there for the buzzer beater against Houston, and the 52 points against Phoenix.  How you conducted yourself off the court was equally important. Of all the pics I've seen of you, my favorite is the one of you playing with your kids.  For all you've accomplished on the court, they are your true legacy.  You made the right choice.  Life is more than just basketball, though what you accomplished will never be forgotten.  Looking forward to the day your #7 hangs from the rafters at the RG.

    All the best,
    GT

Claire and I were privileged to meet you before your rookie season
on our Rookie Season Ticket Holder night.
(LaMarcus, Ime, and Sergio were there, too.)

You have earned our lifelong respect and admiration
by being the fine person you are - not to mention your play.
    Simply a "wow".

We hope you remain active with the Blazers
so we can continue to enjoy your company,
    frequently, at the Rose Garden.

With very best wishes to you and your family,

    Brandon,

I grew up with the Blazers.  I was a huge fan of teams in the 80's and early 90's.  I quickly lost interest in the Jail Blazers.  I was done being a Blazer fan.  You won Rookie of the Year, then I started to watch games.  I became a Blazer fan again because of you.  You're a class act and a great role model for my kids, all of whom look up to you and love you.  Your time was too short with us, but you did more for the city, franchise, and fans than most players whose careers are five times longer than yours.

Keep you head up.  You'll always be one of the best.

Roy was HOPE. Hope for the franchise during it's darkest days. HOPE in the fourth quarter when the game was on the line. HOPE for a city of fans that dreamed of a CHAMPIONSHIP. I will never forget the passion he showed in all aspects of his life. He's forever a Legend in Portland and will not be forgotten. I only hope the team brings him back in some kind of capacity.

    Hey Brandon,

Congrats on your success as a perfect example of an awesome NBA player and great man of God. We've seen miracles through you on the court. You have made proud to be the biggest a BLAZER FAN in NJ!!! I go to all Blazers games when you come to PHilly and NJ. I look forward to seeing you in person. Never missed a ball game on TV either. I'm a true fan. I know it's hard to believe that I still play at 48 but I do. I wear my Blazer T's  to all my bball games. My husband thinks we should live in Portland during the season because my mind is on my Blazers all the time.  You have inspired me to play again when I turned 46. Your drive and energy was inspiring. I thank you for your excellence, hardwork, dedication and integrity. You are a true baller and great example for soooo many boys wanting to be a good guy in the NBA. Keep your head up and continue to allow God to use you. He needs you on another level to shine. Coaching, mentoring,  or managing you are qualified. Allow him to use you. You will see how he is just elevating you to a new level! Don't forget about the young guys on the Blazers. They need a real player coach with drive and not afraid to take clutch shots!!! Take care of your family and make sure your son comes to the Blazers!!!

Single-handily, the one person to make me even take a look at this franchise. I don't care if that's not right but it's the truth. Such an amazing player with such a gifted jumpshot; even Kobe admitted it. I just wish things weren't the way they were. Whether he would've stayed playing for Portland, or gone to any other team (preferably the Bulls) it would've been less of a heartache than seeing him depart from the organization without will but for because he just couldn't anymore. Fan for life.

I am from Connecticut and have been a fan of Roy and the blazers for a number of years, and through all of the injuries Roy has remained my favorite player. I have watched all of the games in some way or another: from his buzzer beater in Houston to his legendary performance in Game four against the Mavs. His unique combination of offensive skill, defensive ability, clutchness, along with his sportsmanship and humility make him a player that can never be replaced in terms of his presence on the court. At his best, his mid range game was unmatched, and he was truly unguardable. The amount of respect I hold for Roy is unfathomable, and I am sure he will not be forgotten. My greatest wish is for Roy to remain with the team in some kind of way, whether it be coaching, or something else, I would love to see him still involved. These five years as a blazers fan have truly been great. Thank you Brandon Roy, for some of the best years of watching basketball of my life.

Brandon, I just want you to know that I understand how you must feel having your body let you down like this. I have a rare disease that has caused me to lose not only my passion for the things that I loved but can no longer do but also my passion for life in general. I was living with severe depression for years. Now I have always been a Blazer fan and the day they drafted you I went down and bought season tickets. I was still living with depression but when you were hitting your clutch shots and winning all those games I was taken to another place, free from my pain and depression. Back in January of this year I finally found a cure for my depression and it was there in front of me the whole time and I hope you can use this bit of advise so you don't have to watch old film of yourself just to be happy, all I did was choose to be happy (even when I'm in extreme pain) and I am happy. Best of all now that I am positive all the time I noticed I am attracting other positive people into my life. There are too many great memories to pick out a favorite but I will never forget how you and your teammates helped me through the toughest time in my life. I just hope you choose to be happy and keep your head up. I always thought that Clyde would always be my favorite Blazer of all time, then you came along and blew me away. Stay humble Brandon you will be missed as a player but never forgotten as a role model and as a man.

Brandon Roy, B-Roy.. Wow.. Yesterday mornings news was the worst thing i've ever seen come across ESPN.. I live in Salt Lake, Utah.. The home of our rival Utah Jazz and even here the basketball community was stunned and sickened.. Me personally. It still hasn't sunk it yet. When the Blazers drafted Brandon I was so damn excited. After seeing his performances at UW, and the way he handled himself. I know we picked the right guy. Five years later, I stand by that 100%.. Brandon resurrected a franchise that was the joke of the NBA. The Jailblazers as most of us remember. Clutch shots, big wins, solid defense, but not to mention the class and professionalism.. In an era where greed and flashiness is the norm.. Brandon was a breathe of fresh air, and the kind of player you wanted to lead your franchise. So for me, it's not just that we lost our star player and one of the best overall players in the NBA.. We lost one of the best leaders i've ever seen step on a court. Not always leading with words but mostly with his actions and calm mentality on the court. And to be honest, watching these videos of Brandon play.. it brings a tear to my eye to know that we will never get to witness this greatness again. Not only did Rip City loose their hero.. The entire NBA lost with Roy's retirement.. I will always wear my number 7 jerseys proud! you're the man B-Roy and I thank god I was able to see you play one last time! good luck, no one will ever forget the impact you have left on us as blazers fans!

I think #7 should be lifted to the rafters this year. Brandon did more over all for this franchise than any other player. He was the biggest part of resurrecting the team from it's worst days. He will be missed. Yes I would like to see him kept around in some capacity but not GM. Not that he couldn't do the job, only because GM's get fired. I don't want to see that happen.

    Thank you for everything Brandon

This is me speaking out of pure love, passion, and loyalty for the beloved Brandon Roy. On December 9th, 2011, I received the most depressing news as a Blazer fan than I can ever recall. Yes, we found out Greg Oden had yet another “setback”, and won’t be on the court for the fourth time in five NBA seasons, but I can get over that rather quickly. However, the news about Brandon Roy retiring due to ongoing knee injuries devastated me. I found myself just a few hours after the news broke watching countless highlights of his five-year playing career with the Blazers, including his buzzer beater against the Houston Rockets, NY Knicks, Toronto Raptors, and many others not included. And how could anyone ever forget “the comeback” against the defending champion Dallas Mavericks? He is one of the few who actually turned a shambled franchise into a winner again. He ended the "Jail Blazers" era and made his own legacy. I am a junior in college, and this news actually made me cry. One of my good family friends I was close with died from cancer, and although I was filled beyond with grief and remorse, I didnt cry as much as I did with Broy's retirement. We love you brandon, hopefully you want to stay in the organization and help coach. We want to see you in Portland still! #7 Always remembered, but never to be worn by another Blazer again.
