Thanks, Brandon!  You are the best.  As a fellow-Husky and Blazers season ticket holder, I have watched nearly every game you've played in the past 10 years (except the road games I'm unable to see on Directv due to Comcast's greed and Blazers' management's unwillingness to find a solution).  I can't begin to tell you how much joy you've brought to me and my family.  Besides your amazing play (that wicked cross-over and left hand!), we appreciate you even more for the humble person you are.  One of our prized possessions is a photo of you with our daughters from a Fan Fest a few years ago.  And one of my prized memories will always be the playoff game 4 last year - as I was there with my 12-year-old daughter ... hugging and high-fiving her ... telling her that she will always remember this (which she will) ... and having her see you literally bring me to tears ... as I was SO happy for you to have that experience.  Thanks again!  You are truly a Husky and Blazer legend.

what can I say, that hasn't already been said, this city loves you Brandon, we appreciate not just the game winning shots but also how great of a person you were on an off the court.

I haven't always been a fan of the the NBA, well, not since i was a kid, in Michael Jordan's hay day, to me basketball was boring and uninteresting. this went on for years until one day, I was visiting from hawaii with my sister and brother in-law. they asked me if I wanted to go watch a game, i figured what the heck, i'd never been to one, so sure! that night Portland played Phoenix and you scored 52 points! I couldn't talk the next day, I had lost my voice from cheering so  loudly, that one experience cemented the fact that i was going to be a fan of the Trailblazers.

You gave me something extra in my life that wasn't there before, and I am forever grateful to you for that! I wish you the very best in whatever you end up doing, but I do hope you stay in touch with the organization, we will always be happy to see you in Portland! WE LOVE #7

Brandon , you are one of the reasons I became a season ticket holder. So many great memories: your numerous game winning shots, your game four performance against Dallas, your work in the community, being Grand Marshall of the Grand Floral parade, and so much more. Please don't move back to Seattle; stay here and continue to be apart of the community and the Blazers organization. We need guys of character like you.

The best memory of all time would be the buzzer beater against the Rockets and the farewell game with the Mavericks. My sisters and I will MISS YOU SOOOOOO MUCH! We literally cried after we heard the news. Please stay in the Northwest BROY!!! :) We just want you to know that you will always be remember as the Blazer who really showed commitment and humility to the team and to the fans. So many players are so full of themselves, but you truly showed a passion for the sport and for us ~ those who cheer BROY all the time, and everyone who screams crazily at the Rose Garden. We love you and your family. Much blessings your way.

P.S. We can't wait to see little Roy (your son) play sometime in the future:)
I am a fan of all Trail Blazer players! Each of them make the game come alive! So lets rise with them!

When my wife and I moved to Portland six years ago I was  disgruntled with the NBA and we somewhat reluctantly attended a game or two.  Then Brandon Roy was drafted, we purchased season tickets, and quickly joined Blazer mania. Thank you B-Roy for the countless thrills, and for everything you have done for the Blazers and Portland.  We wish you and your family the very best.

Brandon - I can't imagine how tough this decision was emotionally, but I think it is clear, not only to myself as a recent grad of medical school, but to all out there, that it was probably the only decision you could make given the issue regarding your long-term health, as you stated. Your last game at the RG was one for the books and will always be etched in our collective memories. In the 5 years you gave us, we cherish all your deeds both on and off the court.

Though it may not have been your plan, it seems that other things were planned for you - I know basketball was your passion and we could clearly see that from what you did on the court and how hard you tried, especially the last few years - yet, as you know, there are bigger things in life and I'm sure there will be things to come that you could never have dreamed of - you are a father to two lovely kids and a husband and I'm sure you are going to continue to excel at both those jobs.  You will always have a special place in our collective heart as fans and as Portlanders - that #7 surely belongs up in the rafters - you brought back the excitement and more class to a great organization that has been a part of our lives for so so long. In short, you brought back RIP CITY! We hope to see your around the city and the team in the future. Just know that you've got a city, an arena and a people that will always welcome you with open arms on all levels. We are proud of what you brought to us and that will never change.
I wish you the best for whatever life brings you in the coming years. Keep in touch with your Portland family. :-)  - Anees Ahmed (NW Portland)

Brandon Roy, you made the game as exciting as when I was growing up watching Jordan.  You are the only other player I can say that about.  No matter how bad things got in any game, there was always hope when Brandon Roy was on the floor.  You did the impossible so many times.  Proud to say that a month ago when my first born son was born... We named him Brandon because of all the incredible associations with that name that you made both on and off the court.  We will miss you on the trailblazers like crazy.  Thanks for everything you did for the team and for the NBA.

We will always be thankful for all the wonderful games we watched Brandon play. This is so sad that this has happened to such a great player and person at such a young age. We will always remember that it was Brandon who gave us back our wonderful Trailblazers and our love for them again. Thank you, Brandon, for being you and the absolute best of luck for the future.

Thank you Brandon Roy for being a different kind of player. Your attitude and sincerity is something that is lost in the NBA, I truly feel sad for this loss. I am just happy that you were able to have your game 4 in the playoffs last year. I was at that game and because of you i will remember it as one of the happiest moments of my life. I love you Brandon, take care man.

My first game with my wife when we moved to Portland was the absolutely best basketball game I ever saw until I was amazed during a 4th quarter which was the most amazing comeback I've ever witnessed.  Both games moved me, inspired my wife to allow me to buy the season tickets that I had previously thought would always be just out of reach.

Thank you Brandon for that first game we attended watching the team & you do the incredible,  it was the historic Houston game.  The other game was the fourth quarter comeback against Dallas which I am happy to report is still on our DVR because both games showed the full spectrum of your greatness as a player but with very different circumstances.  Sorry for my "cheeky" comment when you graciously signed my Kevin Durant shoes & I believe you will continue to be an inspiration in ways none of us know yet due to your incredible heart & your ability to inspire & lift not just your teammates, but this city & dreamers of the impossible.

I hope you will not be missed because I want you to stay with us all on this journey that you got us to Believe in once again!

I am also quite saddened by the news that Brandon Roy will have to face a medical retirement. As a lifelong Blazer fan, I have to confess that the team's reputation (and some of the players' behavior) of the early 2000s really strained my enthusiasm for the team. As a University of Washington alumnus, however, I truly enjoyed watching a young man named Brandon Roy play for my alma mater, and I couldn't have been happier than that draft night when the Blazers traded to land him.

I knew him to be a quality individual, a competitor with a mighty heart and a player of unparalleled skill. I also believed that he would have an impact immediately on my hometown team, and he was ultimately the reason that I bought season tickets and have them to this day.

My family and friends have enjoyed many amazing moments and games watching number 7, and it's shocking to discover that those times are now over. I feel blessed that I was able to be there in person to see his 52 points against the Suns, the buzzer beating 3-pointer to silence the Rockets and his amazing fourth quarter effort to give the Blazers victory in last year's game 4 in the playoffs, which will now be how Brandon is remembered forever.

I just wanted to write today to let everyone at the Trail Blazers organization know how important Brandon Roy has been to me and my relationship to Trail Blazers basketball, and that I will always cherish the years I was able to see him play in the Red and Black. In my opinion he is one of the people most responsible for changing the perception of the team from those low years, not only for the NBA and basketball fans around the country, but for all of us here in Portland that felt the team was slipping away from us.

If there's anyway we can do something to let Brandon know how much he has meant to us, please let me know. It would be my privilege to give something back to a man who has given us so much.

Thank you, Brandon, from the bottom of my heart, and go Blazers!

Threw this together for you B. Roy. I had to stop playing because of knee problems too so I feel what you're going through. You're easily one of the best to go out there, the patience and intelligence you played with was legendary, not many guys wanted to guard your game and you got a lot of respect around the basketball world for it. just keep your head up and control what you can, don't dwell about what you cant. Every highlight will be cherished and replayed again and again. I want to personally thank you for turning the franchise around, putting the weight of the city of Portland on your back and for making me proud to throw on a Blazer jersey. All the best for the next chapter of a short but GREAT career.

This is very unfortunate, words can not explain what you have done not only for the city of Portland, but for the nba. I hope you find peace with this, i wish nothing but the best for you and your family, and i hope to see little Brandon Roy jr in a Blazer uniform in 18 years. Thank you for all the memories you gave us on and off the court. You are rip city. #7 = #1. My favorite play from you is when you dunked on cheikh samb... ohhh man. POSTER

Don't even know how to pick a favorite BRoy moment, so many in such a short period of time. From the buzzer beater against the Rockets on my Bday at the RG to game 4 against the Mavs, and so many in between, including the Willis Reed like entrance to game 3 against the Suns. I was lucky enough to be there in person for those and many others, moments where strangers were high fiving and hugging in the concourse, shouting lets go Blazers all thru town! Thanks Brandon, we love you.

Brandon Roy, not only a phenomenol basketball player, but a fantastic model for young players. You brought professionalism, class, integtity, skill, inspriation and leadership to the Portland Trailblazers. You brought the fun back to basketball in Portland. The Trailblazers will not be the same without you on the court.  I hope you decide to continue to provide these skills to basketball, and Portland, in another role. I wish you well.

I know that I am not the first to say this, and I am sure it will not be the last time you here this Brandon, you have been the most exciting, talented, and humble player to ever wear a Blazer jersey! You will be truly be missed not only by the fans of Portland and the fans you brought to the Blazers through out the country, but all of the players you have played with and against. The class you have demonstrated on and off the court has left you a legacy in your short career that will last you and your fans a lifetime! I hope the future is good to you and your family, and I hope you stay in Portland for a long time to come. Tell your mother that I personally thank her for raising you to be a perfect gentleman. You brought faith back to a city that had lost that faith in their only major sports franchise. You gave us some unforgetable moments on and off the court. Replacing you will be close to improssible. I was at the game against Houston where the impossible was made possible. It still gives me chills to hear the replay. I was at the game 4 against the Mavericks at the end of last season in what could be your greatest performance ever considering the circumstances. I will miss Mark annoucing your name during the starting lineups. I knew as long as you were out there we ALWAYS had a chance to win. As you move on with your life without playing basketball, it's hard not to be selfish and wish you were still around to help bring that elusive championship back to Rip City. I think we all know that if it were at all possible you would be out there. You love for the game and us fans showed every day. As we let you go, know that you always have a home here in Portland and I appreciate everything you did for this fanchise, this city and for me. There are games I watched that I'll tell my kids and grandkids about how Brandon Roy was the best Blazer of his generation. He still is a great man and we wish you the best in whatever you decide is your next life challenge. Thank you.

I have too many memories to share here, but I will recall my first time watching him play in his rookie season. I was really impressed in his first game. I turned to my roommate at the time and said "this kid is gonna be good". I never expected the wave of things to come. It was a really great time. Oh yeah, watching him dunk on that dude from the Clips Samb or whoever. Yeah, I saw that one live in the stands in L.A. I remember how quiet the crowd got after the ooohs. Blazers went on to crush the clips. Wearing my Roy 7 shirt in the streets of L.A. getting honks of respect and "go Blazers" as I walk by. I now hang that shirt up  along with my Clyde shirt. I take bot hwith me to war whenever I play the game.
I am a fan of proving the critics wrong.

You're the reason I started watching basketball again B Roy. It's always sad to see a great player leave the game, but it's infinitely more sad to see a great person leave. You are the Portland Trail Blazers, and I sincerely thank you for what you have done for this city.

I wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors, and remember, you will always have a home here with us in Portland.

I am glad you can't see me right now, because I am crying! I know deep down inside you made the right decision to give up the NBA, your health and family come first. I was a lucky fan because I got to play basketball arcade against you at last year's season ticket holder party, and our picture ended up on the front page of the rip city game magazine! You are the most special player to me because I see so much of my son in you, and though my son didn't get to make it to the pro's, I watched you live his dream. You are such a great man, basketball player, and even more important a great father. I am sure God still has great plans for you and you will succeed in whatever path you now choose to take. Thanks for all the great memories, you will always be my #1 Blazer!!!
I am a fan of watching our team grow into a championship team, they should be all grown up 2010!

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
