The greatest Blazer of this era by far. My favorite memory is watching him score over 50 points against the Suns, and I was lucky enough to be at a couple of his game-winning shot games. He will be missed best of luck in the future.

We still have a good team with a great group of players and I can't wait for this season to get started and see Portland go deep this year!!!

The player who truly made me a fan of this team, gave me hope when things didn't go our way, helped bring back Rip City, and a million other things he's done for the city and the organization as a whole.

So glad I got to see his last game on the Rose Garden court, so many great memories i'll never forget them.

How hard is it going to be to watch that official retirement press conference?...im guessing there will be some tears shed.

I've had season tickets for 32 years, so of course I've seen the best in Brandon Roy--the last home playoff game last spring, the miracle shot against Houston, the win over the Suns, etc., etc., etc. Thank you for the many great moments you gave us as a great representative of our town--we'll miss you greatly and I'll continue to wear your #7 jersey at the RG for many years to come! I'm so sorry that your knees did you in, but enjoy your life, play with your kids and maybe we'll see you somewhere down the road--as a Blazer ambassator or coach!

Thank you Brandon for making me a believer in the Trailblazers again.  Thank you for game four last year.  I think opening night this year should be the night number 7 is raised to the rafters where it belongs.  Best of luck B Roy.  Hope to see you as a assistant to Coach McMillan really soon.

Brandon, thanks for making me a fan of you and the Trail Blazers team back in 2008 during a game against the Hawks when I first witnessed the togetherness of your team. Since then I had to get the International League Pass to be able to follow your every game from distant Denmark. In an effort to somehow get me closer to the Rose Garden, I hung posters of you, G.O. and one with the two of you + L.A. on a RISE WITH US poster on my wall around the TV. Would've loved to have witnessed you from the RG with the always emphatic and supportive crowd of loyal fans - to my knowledge, the best in the NBA.

Having played basketball myself since I was 7 (now 22) and being a huge fan of the game, I admire when a team's best player is so down to earth and taking care of his teammates. I can't stress that togetherness I see with you guys enough. Thank you for being a good sport to your fans and to your team, and thank you for being what you are.

With nothing but respect for your decision I hope to see you in the rafters of the Rose Garden and on the Portland bench as an assistant coach if you choose that path.
I am a fan of basketball as an international language and tool to achieve soreness, joy and friendships

B-Roy, he's got nothing to be ashamed of. How many people in this world can say they went up against some of the best in the NBA, and they beat some of the best in the NBA?

This team was living in a cold spot on the cellar floor of the NBA when Roy showed up. He helped us immensly by putting in some major work that this team required, in order to move to an upstairs room equipped with an Amish built space heater, and a flat screen TV.

    GO BLAZERS!!!

Brandon you were such a classy player... It is really sad that your knees didn't last, but life isn't always fair... I have to admit that I understand your decision though, because family goes first... B-Roy,in a league full of egos who care about sponsors and going to the Lakers, the Knicks, etc, you showed them how a true star has to be... Honest,humble,hard-worker and with a team-first approach in this wonderful game named basketball... A true leader. You should be proud of yourself, for what you have achieved and keep on giving 110% to everything you do,just like every time you stepped in the court! I truly wish you the best man! ;))
P.S. : There was no better way to leave.. The Mavs will never forget it... I will never forget it... Rip city will never forget it!

I live in Brazil, and I love basketball so much. My team used to be Utah Jazz (for the Stockton-Malone era), and then I stood 5 years without watching NBA. When I came back to watch, Celtics won 2008 champ, and had such a charismatic and good team, so I was leaning towards Celtics...

But all of sudden, while watching NBA rosters and videos, I got charmed by this Blazers team. The team that had been strugling latest years, and had two young surging stars on Roy and LaMarcus, but was a "middle tier" team with a lot of courage and toughtness, had 1st pick on Oden, and future was bright.

I don't need to tell you guys that mister Brandon Roy is the reason of my team being the Portland Trailblazers since then (2008). His energy, his demeanor, his all-around skill (second only to Kobe, in the SG, to me) captivated me, along with all the "minor" things in this team: Coach Nate, great LaMarcus, Joel Przybilla, and even Steve Blake, and Travis Outlaw at the time. Not to mention the GREAT fans this franchise has...

So now long story (relatively) short, I'm a Blazer Maniac from Brazil, who loves this team, reads news, blogs and watches broadcasts and cheers a lot for the Blazers and for the city of Portland. I'm sorry for any mispoken words or bad english here, but this is a thanks to you, mr. Brandon Roy,  for bringing me in this fanship that I like so much, and enjoying this organization that we all love so much.

PS: I even bought my first "online experience" on shoes on eBay for Brandon: It was a Nike Blue Chip PE with number 7 from Blazers... and when a friend of mine went to USA, he bought me a Brandon Roy away shirt (black with red/silver) \o/

Thanks Roy, we all hope you and your family the best, and that God be always with you. Not only for everything that you done so far for the Blazers but for the great person you are, too.

You've been my favorite player since day one and it's truly been an honor to have seen you play (and I hope to see your jersey retired soon). I wish you the best in what's ahead for you. I've only been following the NBA since about January. It's not that big over here in Scotland. But I always liked basketball in school, and whenever I caught a bit of a game on TV. So I watched whatever games I could, any team and any time. The first Blazers game I watched was the win against Chicago at the Rose Garden in February. I remember thinking the crowd was twice as energetic and enthusiastic than any other I'd seen.

But I kept hearing about this Brandon Roy guy. Being new to the NBA, I had never heard of him. (I'd also never heard of guys like Steve Nash, Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki, so it's not my fault!) And everyone kept talking about him, about how he was the main man for Portland, the franchise player, the go-to-guy, and how much of a shame it was that he was injured. I wouldn't have known any better, mind you, so good were the performances of Aldridge, Wallace and the like.

It was the buzzer-beating alley-oop lay in by Batum against the Spurs that really got me hooked though. I knew right there that the Blazers were going to be the team to follow. And after that, I think, Brandon Roy started coming back into things. Getting minutes here and there. Then came the playoffs. I watched the whole series. I don't really need to say any more than that. Roy's performance in game four was... amazing. That's how I'll remember him. I feel like I've missed something big, but at the same time I'm glad I got to see him play at all.

I'm a huge basketball fan, I don't have a favorite NBA team, but I love watching each star play. Brandon Roy was definitely one of my favorite basketball players to watch he had it all and he was just so old school and fluent with his game. He never spoke out in the media and called out anybody he always put in work and let his game talk for him. Brandon Roy gave people a reason to watch the Portland Trail Blazers. Not saying Portland is a bad team but they're in a smaller market who don't get as much public attention as the Lakers, Celtics, Heat, Knicks, etc. It's going to be hard not seeing Brandon Roy play the game again, but he gave us all memories that we will cherish when we watched him play. Any basketball fan is a fan of Brandon Roy, if they aren't then they need their head examined. Brandon Roy you will be missed by basketball and its fans! I'm so thankful I was able to witness your greatness on the court and you gave me a reason to still believe in my basketball career after I blew out my knee two years ago. Regardless of your role, you will always be one of my favorite NBA players. Thank you for everything and God bless!

I AM A KNICKS-NUGGETS FAN (FAN OF BOTH TEAMS). I'M FROM PARAGUAY. I'M A TRUE NBA INSIDER EVEN WHEN I'M SO FAR AWAY FROM THERE. I KNOW EVERY SINGLE PLAYER IN THE NBA, THE COACHES AND TEAMS. AND MY WORDS FOR BRANDON IS JUST "THANK YOU MAN". FOR ALL THOSE BUZZER-BEATERS, JUMPSHOTS, LAYUPS, DUNKS, PLAYS, MOMENTS THAT I LIVED SEEING YOU PLAY WITH INTENSITY. I'M NOT EVEN A FAN OF YOUR TEAM BUT I RECOGNIZE YOUR SUPERIORITY AS A TRUE STAR OF THE NBA. NBA IS LOSING A TRUE STAR AND IT'S A SHAME ALL OF THIS. LIFE IS NOT FAIR SOMETIMES, BUT WE NEED TO ANALYZE AND KEEP COOL AND THINK IT GOOD. GOD DOESN'T DO THIS JUST BECAUSE HE WANTS TO, MAYBE HE'S SAVING YOU FROM ANOTHER BIG INJURY OR KIND OF PAIN OR SOMETHING. WHEN GOD CLOSES YOU A DOOR, HE OPENS A WINDOW. GOD BLESS YOU MAN. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING YOU TAUGHT US AS BASKETBALL PLAYERS. SEND YOU A HUG.

    BRoy,
What your body has robbed you of in quantity, you have more than made up in quality.  You are truly a role model.  One of my happiest Blazer memories was draft night after all the time watching you play at UW.  I sincerely hope we haven't heard the last of you.  Best of luck in whatever you pursue next.  I know you are probably too humble to agree, but it would be a tragedy if #7 did not go up into the Rose Garden rafters.  Thank you for all the memories and for reigniting RipCity!  God bless and GOBLAZERS!!!

There are two ways to appreciate Brandon, his game on the court and his life off of it.  Brandon's game was sick, smooth, under control, and a joy to watch.  He could make teammates better, take over a game, or decide to become his team's leading rebounder to fill a void like he did in college.  His energy, his attitude, and his love of the game made us fans.  Off the court Brandon was always smiling, always accessible to the media, and always involved in the community.  His career was a great combination of talent and service.  Even as his on the court contributions subside I look forward to seeing his off the court contributions continue to flourish.

The first player who attracted me to this team was my countryman Sabas. And of course I know what has C. Drexler done to the franchise - I´ve been his fan since my childhood, watching him in the national team - whatta virtuoso!

Now, Brandon - the basketball maestro, what a great person. He was the main reason which made me to stick to and follow the Blazers through mid 00´s till now.

I´m sorry, I´m not much into words right now, as I feel really saddened by the events. I´m sure Brandon has made the best decision possible here. I wish him strength going through this period. I know there are so many people out there in Oregon and Washington appreciating him, for what he´s created for basketball fans. I hope to visit the Rose City one day.

Thank You, Brandon for making me the Blazermaniac for life! All the best for You and Your family!

I am a fan of Rip City, Baby!

Thank you for all you brought to RIP City. I live in England, so have never been Portland to my regret, but you influenced me some much, my game is pretty much built around you. You were such a special talent, and were pretty much the definition of Clutch. No matter what the media said, you didn't react and just let your game talk. An ideal role model, The Blazers, and the entire world of basketball will not forget you, and the NBA just lost perhaps one of the most special players of this generation.
Now Blazers, hurry up and retire that jersey.
Again, thank you for breathing life back into Portland.

Thank you Brandon for all you did as a Blazer player. I loved watching you over the past few years and I'll never forget how it felt in the Rose Garden when you scored that 3 pointer with 0.8 seconds left against Houston Rockets!! You signed a basketball for me back in April this year and it has pride of place in my entertainment room, with a framed picture of the Houston buzzer-beater. You are a class act and the NBA will be the poorer without you. Take care and all the very best for your future.

watching my first all-star one player caught my eye. i wasnt all that into the league back then as i was right now but i knew enough to not miss the all-star game. so it happened that this was the first all-star game of some guy named Roy aswell and even though this german commentator only focused on dirk as usual i couldnt help but watch his every move....

since then i watched every blazers game i could (which got easier with leaguepass-braodband i have to admit) and enjoyed every minute Roy was on the court

this game 4 heroics was nothing i had whitnessed so far, i was stunned as everyone else who just watched a player dominate a game seemingly effortless

    love from germany
