and as far as mo goes, it was just a outcome of bad match ups... trust me when i say rondo would make andre look bad as well on any night as he has before and would especially in a heated playoff game. the only reason why andre had a better pct like u say is because all he got was layups all season i might have seen him make 4-5 mid range/long shots all season and they were str8 prayers. the only reason why he is decent at passing is because thats all he can do. most of his career all i see is him like this andre miller has no d thats what u call d? lol... his d is always suspect.

Well who the H do you think we need a point guard to play against in the playoffs? Guys like Rondo!! That is ridiculous. Mo Williams sucks. You have proved my point! And you are knocking a guy for taking the ball to the hoop and getting a higher percentage shot? Plus if all you saw was 4-5 mid-long jumpers from Andre all year then you are blind. Andre took PLENTY of mid range jumpers last year. And "the only reason why he is decent at passing is because that is all he can do" ?!?!? That is an ignorant and stupid statement. I also never said Dre's D was really good, I just said it is better than Mo's, which isn't saying much. That vid is funny though.

well when i said we could acquire mo williams, it wasn't to start him. i said we could most likely get him for a bargain and would be able to keep andre miller at least for this yr and let him start with mo williams coming off the bench. you should know the nba is all about match-ups so you have to have versatile players who u can put in on crucial moments.  and if we needed a 3 at the right moment we could pull mo williams off the bench and also u never know how good he might play for a better coach than he had in Cleveland

I selected stay with Miller. We have Patty who should be able to take the starting PG spot from Miller .. if only Nate would allow them to play for the position.

I think Patty is severly under-appreciated on this team. Give Patty the playing time an he will be exactly like a Parker, Brooks or even  Jameer Nelson type player .. with that type of a PG on the Blazers .. this team would be hands down the favored in the west in my personal opinion ..

Miller is/was supposed to be just a temp PG .. filling in on starter minutes only till we got our PGotF ..

Miller was never supposed to "BE" that PGotF ..

Oh my bad, I didn't see that. I know others think we should trade Andre for Mo. Yeah I think Mo would be a good backup, but I just don't think he is a good starter. I also thought Mike Brown was not a good coach, Nate's definitely better. I'm hoping Armon can get a nice jump shot going because I like his game and I like his D so far, and maybe in a year or two he can work his way into the starting lineup. I'm pretty sure Patty won't be starting over Andre this year though. That would be ridiculous.

What DECADE ARE YOU IN? The Lakers have close to no defense at all, maybe Gasol, Odom, and Brown on a good day, and the Celtics are not far behind, Rondo, is good on D, but a beast, no. A beast would be like Camby, or Howard. Those teams dont win because of defense, those teams win because of two main reasons. One is teamwork, and a non stop hustle at both ends of the floor, and second, unlike Portland, their starting 5 have a decent amount of playing years in the NBA, take out Miller and you've got Roy, Batum, Aldridge all class of 06, Oden, who doesnt even have 1 full year, i mean thats the biggest setback for this team.
Acquiring Mo Williams, not only would it give Portland a pare miter shooter, but a guy who can get his teammates involved in a cornucopia of methods

Are you high?  the Lakers are easily a top five defensive team in the league and the celtics the past three years have been arguably the best defensive team of the past decade.  Also the celtics are my least favorite team but I still have to give credit to rondo, if you dont think he is a beast on d than what pg do you think is?  In my opinion he is easily the best deffensive pg in the nba right now.  Also you obviously know very little about basketball outside of the Blazers if you think that Gasol, Odom, and Brown are the Lakers three best defenders.  Ron Artest is the toughest and possibly most underted small forward on d in the nba and is one of the only people in the nba capible of locking down Lebron and Melo, and Kobe is their second best defensive player and when he gets pissed he can lock down just about any wing player.  Also while I like both Gasol and Brown they are two of the weakest defenders on the Lakers.
    ha.
Actaully i am high. But i was sober when i watched last season, and honestly, i dont see, like SEE WITH MY OWN EYES, defense, i dont see it, and your saying it is there, well apparently its not worth remembering, because i dont remember ever seeing Kobe Bryant doing much of anything on defense, i mean maybe a lucky steal at mid court, but that aint much.
Now i do agree with you, that if Kobe gets pissed, his gameplay changes, however not for the best. He is too emotional whn he plays, and he doesnt let things go, hes a hate, and dont even get me started on Ron Artest. Ron Artest is a hothead who if he's not careful, will let his anger get the best of him and lose the opportunity of playing in NBA. I did forget about him, he is their best player on d, but if your telling me Kobe's the second best, then maybe the Lakers ARE going to be easy this year.
Odom needs to get his @$$ off that team and get to somewhere where he can start, he never ceases to amaze me in all aspects, sometimes he can make everyone a little angry, but its all good. And your comment on Gasol and Brown, i just have to say the complete opposite, if there was any times i saw good defense with that team it was with one of those two.

Bown can be good at d when he puts his mind to it and he i good at getting steals, but hes just too inconsistant to be called a good defender at this point.  But I do like Brown and think that he could take over for Kobe in 4 or 5 years if he starts playing more consistant d and if he works on his shooting touch.  With Gasol, I think he is good at gaurding players such as Chris The problem is that he doesnt seem to always defend people as well as he can.  He consistently plays good d when hes asked to gaurd the teams best player but for some reason he does not try that hard when he is gaurding someone who is just ok.  He also takes too many risks when he is trying to get steals, but those are really his only two faults on d.

Your comments on odom though are completely true.  He is easily one of the top 5 most underated players in the nba and if he where on just about any other team he could be the go to guy, or at the very least the second best player.  He is a very tough defensive player and could average Dwight Howard like numbers on another team.  Last year he averaged like ten boards even though he had Bynum and Gasol trying to get all the rebounds too, also he averaged ten rebounds in only close to 30 minutes per game.  Thats pretty impressive.

Yes. Im glad you've recognied that. One of the most annoying things i saw last year for the Lakers was, the team could have a great game or horrible game, but there seemed to be one thing that caused it, i guess two.
Okay, the two i would like to single out are Bynum and Odom. Bynum, like Oden, has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, and last season was no different, playing through the pain at times, he still wasnt on the top of his game. Bynum was going at a pace of something like 12 pts , 6-10 rpg one night, then would follow up the next two games with stats like 4pts 3-5 rpg, and then the cycle would repeat itself.
Odom was similar coming off the bench and throwing up a double double for some games, 10pts, 6-9 rpg, now to me it seems more true for Odom than Bynum, but when these players do well the lakers would win. So many times i would turn on a game and watch it through and so many times would Odom or Bynum's 4pts, or extra 2 rebounds were the deciding factor.

I'm beginning to wonder if we even had a Plan B(not that that's a bad thing). Maybe it was all CP3 or bust? While an October trade wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility (Pip was traded here in October), if we don't see anything done in September, I'm inclined to think we may wait till the Trading Deadline.

Well honestly I think a trade or an upgrade to Miller is only worthwhile if you get someone like a CP3, or a Deron Williams or Derrick Rose, but those kind of guys are extremely, extremely hard to get! If not impossible. We almost got real lucky with CP3 but how many pg's out there, that are clearly on a higher level than Dre, are available? I don't think there are ANY! Sure there are better shooters, but if our team is healthy I think what we need is someone who can give the ball to Oden at the right time and spot to score, and also set up Brandon, Aldridge and Batum. Someone to run the offense! Imagine that. Andre can do that very very well. He is also a healthy sized pg and no one is gonna push him around like the smaller pg's in the league and he can even post them up if need be. There are a lot more aspects to the pg position than shooting a damn three (just sayin, not trying to point my fingers at any one here). On top of that, Andre is actually working on his game this off season! I guess that is the first time in years.

Man I am getting excited about this year after reading about Lamarcus working on getting stronger and putting on weight hopefully to bang more, Brandon getting lighter to be more explosive, Greg is working hard, Prz should be back for the beginning of the year, Batum getting experience at FIBA, Buck Williams working with our bigs and now Andre is actually working out this off season. Can't wait!

After watching summer league again this week, AJ still has my vote.  If EW plays like he did at Memphis for the Blazers, he is a keeper too. Bayless beware .......

Billups is probably the best fit out of all the players mentioned before on this disscusion, but he is just too old.  He only has at most 3 more years left of really solid play, which would meen that we would be back to this pgotf disscusion in only a couple years.  I like him as a temporary solution, but I think the Blazers need someone younger at pg.  That could be Armon or Bayless, but neither has really proven that they should be anything better than an average backup.
