I have a problem trading away a young SF we drafted and  are in desperate need of, for a franchise PG from another team who is gonna cost us a lot of money and is comming of knee surgery.

To play Devil's Advocate here: Batum is up for a contract extension soon and will cost us quite a bit of change as well, albeit not as much as CP3, but I think Paul Allen is willing to spend any amount of money to get a title here in Portland. Also, while CP3 is coming off an injury, so is Batum with his shoulder.

Scottie was a great player but he was a Robin to Jordan's Batman while Isaiah Thomas was the Batman on those great Detroit Piston teams. I agree with whoever said CP3 hasn't had great talent around him lately but he still managed to elevate them. He would have the talent on this Blazers team to do some major damage.

if you know Nick Batum isn't gonna cost us as much as CP3 then what was the point of bringing it up?...I just don't see a trade working out unless we pair multiple players together that the blazers aren't willing to trade...and paul allen can have as much money as he wants but if your capped out, your capped out...this isn't baseball.

Because one is a superstar and the other has a chance to be at least an allstar, so how much they make directly correlates. Salary cap is kind of like a soft cap, while some teams like Indiana won't go over it, teams with money to spend on the luxury tax like Allen are willing to spend more, plus we all know he doesn't mind sending additional money to sweeten deals that doesn't effect the cap at all.

    Another question regarding Batum-

Will his value ever be higher? We have made a few mistakes before by not dealing our young talent when they had high values and they never really lived up to our expectations. Looking at Batum objectively, without the red and black colored glasses on, does he have stardom in his future or is this another case of selling high?

Defensively, I think he could be as good as it gets on the wing for the next 5-10 years, BUT he's got to add some weight to his frame or else bulkier forwards like James and Anthony will bully him around and get him into quick foul trouble. I'd also like to see more plays ran for him to see if he has the ability to create his own shot or shoot off of the dribble on a consistent basis. We know he's a marksmen from 3, but what will open the rest of the league's eyes is if he can start scoring off of pull-ups, dribble hesitations, and finishing on the break. He seemed to have a little bit of trouble finishing on the break during the end of the season, hopefully that was only just rust after being out for so long, because he has all the physical tools to be a monster on the break like Jerome Kersey!

At the max maybe 30 people will comment on that  petition. 0% chance Olshey will look at the thread and trade Batum to please those people.

Im not against trading it if it is for the right price

I really really think trading our pick is the wisest and most effective thing to do. This years draft is a poor standard. Ohsley needs to get in a real powerhouse starting defensive centre. It''s all so interesting and I am very excited to see wha...

If the thread said Babbitt beat some brothers you all would be expecting a hate crime. I do not see why this is a big deal. Police beat their wives daily and we do not have a thread about that and that is a real issue plaguing society.

Let Olshey bet on Batum and when he is unemployed then maybe he will release he messed up.
