Well, we all are armchair coaches to some extent and would love to have the opportunity to set the starting 5 for just one game so here's your chance. We kind of get the experience with the starting 5 feature on this site, but that is more so fantasy oriented and wouldn't take into consideration matchups or chemistry.

Current roster, and take into consideration the losses of Outlaw, Pendergraph, Mills, and Batum to injury, who would you send out as the starting 5? Do you run with the 3 guard lineup that was effective during the 5 game road trip? Do you put out there to space the floor and keep the ball in Brandon's hands more often? Or do you put the floor general Andre Miller at point and let Roy work on his game off of the ball?

    Mine:
    PG: Andre Miller
    SG: Brandon Roy
    SF: Martell Webster
    PF: LaMarcus Aldridge
    C: Greg Oden

As great as Brandon is and still will be, I believe the only way the team takes the next step is by Oden improving and become the beast down low we all have seen flashes of and Andre Miller is the player who gets him going.

Did anyone read the quote on OregonLive about his feelings on Miller?

Oden said it was Miller who planted a seed in his mind to attack.

"He's a big breath of fresh air for me," Oden said. "When he comes into the game, he's like, 'G.O., we are going to run a play for you so you can try to get the other big man in foul trouble.' That definitely puts a big smile on my face. I turned my head and had a big smile."

Also, I just didn't like seeing Roy go out, night after night, and having to go up against bigger, stronger, an more physical players when we ran the 3 guard lineup.

    Who do you got?

My starting 5 would have to be this:

    Andre Miller
    Rudy Fernandez
    Brandon Roy
    LaMarcus Aldridge
    Greg Oden

Miller is the best at getting Oden the ball, and Rudy is a close second. This lineup would keep everyone engaged in the game at all times. The 3 guard lineup worked before, but instead of Blake, I'd go with Rudy. He can spread the floor just as well as Blake and is improving a ton on defense. Then the second unit would be Blake, Bayless, Webster, Cunningham, and Przybilla. The one difference from the initial 3 guard experiment that I would make though is make Webster the first guy in off the bench. If he still got consistent minutes, with this being the lineup, watch out NBA! haha

Greg's game will be fine with Miller, Blake or me playing point.

The current starting 5 is winning with style. Miller still got his minutes and numbers off the bench. He doesn't need to start. As a matter of fact who would you rather see with the 2nd team? Blake, Rudy, Pryz, with (Outlaw, Martell, Howard, Cunningham & Bayless), who creates? Bayless...not yet. Miller provides a finisher and makes the 2nd team better while I think Blake presents a possible problem.

However with the 1's Blake fills the role of being a low turnover safe option that lets the penetrator (Roy) have the freedom in his offense and is an outlet when Brandon or someone else is looking for a shooter. Miller tries to fill that role and shoots worse than my buddies 2 year old daughter.

Miller is not going to take this team to the finals. His impact is providing options when our basic offense is not cutting it. GO is going to get us over the hump with Brandons late game abilities, that is who gets us to the finals. That will come with time and the fact is... it will come.

I really like the idea of Rudy getting consistent minutes, but he, like Travis, are players the team needs to come off the bench and bring that energy  to carry the 2nd unit. Now finishing games, that's a whole other story! Rudy is money in the clutch and his passing ability and clutch shooting is just what the team could use down the stretch.

I hope we can groom Bayless to be the point guard of the future as Blake and Miller are both close to or over 30 years old.
Also, he just seems like the type of player who would bite us in the butt if we traded him away and would dominate us every time he played the Blazers.
