Note the contents of this thread are purely speculation and dreams but if Neil Olshey can make this happen you have my permission to do so and steal all the credit.

PG: I am a huge Damian Lillard fan so what I am about to write should not be considered at all a slight against him. While I am a fan of the Lillard and Mo Williams PG combination the team has now I believe the team can do better.

Targets: Mike Conley, Kirk Hinrich and Eric Bledsoe

I love Mike Conley he is a truly under rated PG in this league and with his athletic ability has the ability to be a much more dominant force offensively if given the opportunity. Conley is one of the leagues best defensive PG's probably only behind Rajon Rondo. He has an above average jumper, explosive athleticism with a 40 plus vertical and excellent quickness. He is also a good ball handler and solid passer. Conley has some weakness in his game of course, he is not the type of guy who will take over a game offensively. In addition, he struggles on pick and roll defensive because his small frame makes it hard on him to fight through screens consistently. Lastly, while he is a great defender, he tends to give up on his man if he gets behind him rather than continue to follow the play and use his quick hands to make a play from behind.

Eric Bledsoe is another player I really love. With the right coach this kid could become one of the best PG'S in the league. He is hyper aggressive on offense, constantly attacking the basket, which is great for someone coming off the bench, which he would in this circumstance. Additionally, he has the tools to be defensively elite but he needs significant coaching in this area to overcome the damage caused by playing for Vinny Del Negro. By combining him Conley the Blazers have two very athletic PG's and can absolutely create havoc for opposing defenses every night while staying fresh.

Kirk Hinrich he is the kind of cheap veteran presence that every team needs. While Conley and Bledsoe have athleticism in spades, Hinrich has the size and strength needed to handle the bigger guards in the NBA. Additionally, while Hinrich is fairly limited on offense he still remains a solid three point threat 39% on three attempts per game last year and 38% for his career.

Running three PG'S is important to keep everyone fresh and provide the appropriate level of balance. The cost might become an issue down the road if Bledsoe or Conley want a significant raise otherwise we are looking at around 22 million a season for these three guys after Bledsoe ends his rookie deal.

SG: I like Wesley Matthews and respect his 3 and D game I think the team can and needs to do better.

    Targets: Jimmy Butler, Thabo Sefolosha

Jimmy Butler is a crazy man he is so athletically gifted it is scary and he plays as hard if not harder than anyone in the NBA. His offensive game needs a lot of work but at the root level he is an elite 3 and D guy like Matthews only with a lot more upside. I fully expect Butler to become a household name this season and for the Bulls to snatch him up long term.

I love Tony Allen but offensively his game is just not there and with Jimmy Butler more than capable of playing all world defense I needed to go in a different direction. Thabo was a perfect fit, his size and defensive ability makes him a more than capable stand in. In addition, he is a better than 40% shooter from three point range keeping the three and d combination alive.

The cost of these two is largely dependent on how big Butler's raise is but if he makes between 8-10 million this combination would be quite affordable.

SF: I like Batum's upside just not exactly sold on his consistency or production.

Targets: I would love to put down Paul George here but he is not even remotely attainable. Chandler Parsons, and Matt Barnes.

Chandler Parsons will be in line for a major raise soon. I fully expect him to make around 8 million a season, however, that figure is quite manageable when he is paired with Barnes. Parsons is not going to wow anyone but the guy is solid, he can rebound, shoot, pass and plays some defense. He shoots at a high rate 49% overall and 39% from three point range.

Barnes is a great backup SF he is tough, plays hard, plays good defense, and can shoot the ball. The best part is he does it all for around 3 million a season.

Jimmy Butler can play more than one position so if needed the team could easily shift him the SF but Barnes and Parsons should be more than enough.

PF: I love LA and would like to see the team keep him.

Targets: Lamarcus Aldridge, Tyler Hansbrough, Nick Collison

Keeping LA is probably going to prevent me from running my three PG rotation but the fact was I needed a go to scorer and no one at C or PF was potentially available for the right price. LA can be a 20-10 guy on this team and provided he stays away from constantly shooting 18 foot jumpers this team can go far.

Tyler Hansbrough and Nick Collison are both just tough blue collar guys that get the job done. Neither guy is very expensive and both provide terrific defense, energy and toughness off the bench.

C: Nothing against the Fropez but I think we can do better.

Targets: I would love to add someone like Gasol or Noah here but cost wise I cannot afford them and keep the budget under the luxury tax. Omer Asik thus becomes the number one target.

Asik is a terrific defender and an even better rebounder. Offensively he is limited but the team has plenty of people who can score the ball. His defense, size and floor presence will go a long ways towards maintaining a great team defense.

Let me know what you guys think and if you can build a better team under the tax threshold. I did my best to only include players that could potentially be acquired even if they are not actually on the trade block or free agents.

I am a fan of Getting Defensive Players This Summer.

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
