everyone knows this kid is a star, and possibly the future of the Portland Trailblazers, give him a chance to show what he can do during the season!

He's got until next year to prove himself. I'm a Bayless fan. He's improved in terms of getting people involved but as for running a team, he still needs to refine that skill. Right now to put it in a metaphorical way, his abilities for running a team is a piece of iron that still needs to be tempered and folded to make a strong sword. Haha.

Agreed. Remember the Portland traded up a couple spots to snag Bayless ahead of D.J. Augustine, who will be playing a significant role with the Hornets this year. He came out of school after his freshman year at year the Blazers will have a crucial decision with him because he is going to get a bunch of long looks from GM's while in the final year of his rookie contract.

The kid is a star and should start, I agree 100%! Everyone can stop fussing about who should play the point position. BECAUSE BAYLESS plays better the either Blake or Miller. Go Bayless get yours!!!
I am a fan of Bayless and his attitude to WIN!!! Most positive hard working player on the roster!

Actually Popi DJ Augustin was drafted before Bayless at #9. I'm pretty sure he's the guy the Blazers actually wanted because they brought him in for at least 2 different workouts, yet never brought Bayless in for 1. The kid is not that good yet, you people need to chill out. He's getting some run now, if he deserves more playing time it will come his way. But with Nate's over-reliance on Blake, and Andre needin minutes, as well as Rudy and Brandon, there's really not much time for Bayless.
I am a fan of this team. Here's to hoping for a healthy season!!!

I'll give Bayless credit, he has improved some, but his skillset is still very limited and he hasn't grown that much as a player in terms of what he brings to the court since entering the league. I think he just falls into that niche of being a somewhat lousy point and an undersized 2.

Bayless has shown that he is a valuable asset to the Blazers when a matchup presents itself.  His he a Andre Miller? NO!  Jerryd needs time to season into a reliable defensive thread and a leader at the PG position.  The amount of minutes he gets per game will be the factor of where this guy goes.  Whether Jerryd will be asked to step into a bigger role? It may happen considering the age/how fragile MIller is and if like last season, Blake gets hurt.

Uuuum, did you just say "how fragile Miller is"? Andre Miller currently holds the longest active games-played streak in the NBA (I believe it is 539 consecutive games played) and has only missed 5 games in his ENTIRE 10 year NBA career. I think you might be barking up the wrong tree with that one, lol.  :P

i agree, bayless is looking great, plus, lately, he's the only one i see driving the lane and getting to the line. We need more of that. Speaking of that, that rookie SF, believe its pendergraph looked good, maybe outlaw's injury will introduce him to use such as webster showed us batum.

Darn that stupid hidden step under the rug in Charlotte. The Blazers woulda' beat the Hawks, if Jerryd was 100% healthy. He barely got in there, but I understand Nate's precautions about Jerryd's bum ankle. I hope you folks realize, that letting Bayless actually play, was the main spark which ignited the Trailblazer's 6 game winning streak. Every little contribution helps, and Bayless is chalked full of good stuff.

Hopefully we will see some good minutes for both Bayless and Cunningham tonight against the Wolves!! I'd like to see want Cunningham would produce given some minutes.

I agree with most that has been said. Before we can rush judgment on him, we need to see him get significant time whether it be 15 minutes a night or 20. Blazer and Miller are both great veteran point guards to have on a roster, but how much longer does Bayless have to wait?
He is seeing kids he was ranked just as high as coming out of high school and in mock drafts getting tons of playing time and showing their worth. Guys like Westbrook, Augustine, Rose, Jennings, Lawson, Flynn, and Evans are all getting an opportunity to prove themselves. Yes, I know the majority of those players are playing on bad teams, which would mean more playing time, but if you move up in the lottery to get someone, then at least let them play some backup minutes. We know Jerryd works as hard as anyone in practice and in his own off time.

I just love his intensity, his ability to get to the rim at will, and his scrappy defense. Not to knock Blake or Andre, but they simply don't posses the foot speed needed to keep up with the likes of Paul, Parker, and Brooks. The one positive to being behind Dre and Steve is all of the knowledge he is soaking up, so that when the time does come to play big time minutes, he'll already be prepared mentally.
