One weakness I've seen in summer league and actually the last two regular seasons since we've lost Andre Miller is crisp passing. Watching the NBA finals I was really impressed with the passing of both teams. Sometimes 5 passes before a shot. A lot of our turnovers come from lazy passes or bad passes and far too often we settle for the first shot. Is there any such thing as a Passing Coach? We might need one! Andre Miller made our bigs look good!
I am a fan of A team that plays like Tower of Power on a big stage on a good night

Dre' threw great lobs but i wouldnt neccessarily call his dimes crisp. He got us into our sets quicker thats for sure. He certainly threw Aldridge a bunch of lobs. What he had that these guys dont have is the ability to post up guards and abuse them. Mark Jackson too used to start backing down guys from half-court and post them up on the left block religiously. To the point they outlawed it. The other thing is that he was a great rebounding guard who could start the break. If Dame gets a few Dre' qualities like that, then you'll see the ball swing from side to side with greater frequency.
I am a fan of our new roster playing with and for eachother.

I agree that the team needs more trust in the extra pass and probably more off-ball activity that creates open targets for extra passes. However, I will challenge that if LaMarcus sets a pick for Lillard, both defenders go with the ball, and Dame hits a wide open LaMarcus at the top of the key, is there a need for another pass on that play? Less turnovers: absolutely. Smarter passing: please lord, yes. Less contested jumpers: amen brother. Passing for passing's sake: not necessary.

CJ is a good rebounder, and Stotts said he's impressed with his ability to run the show. And how dare you say Dre's passes weren't crisp. Blasphemy. He is the smartest player ever. If we had him on our team, Number 3 seed.

And riverman, we don't have any true point guard on our Summer League team. Didn't watch the previous two, going to watch today's game.

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

Cut to the rack, was a huge weak spot offensively last season. Get in there and earn some baskets. Drive the ball, leave the defenders in the dust. Damian did it, and it seemed like nobody else would. There's gold near the glass, it's important for the Blazers to attack it. I remember a few games last year where the quarter would end with the Blazers finishing in single digits. And I would look at the shot chart.... guess what ???

ALL JUMPERS, with the vast majority clanging off the iron.

I don't write this to anger Blazer fans, nor do I write it to disrespect my team. I'm just being perfectly honest.

Get in there and fight for baskets. Use the talent and athleticism that got you into this league.
I am a fan of multiple All-Stars on the Blazers roster this season!

No anger here at all, Tobyus. Right now, we have 2 players that can and will get to the rim (Damian and CJ) and one of them is untested. And we have 1 player that can get whatever he wants on the block in LaMarcus. I really like the improvement Joel Freeland has shown, and I think it has been under the radar. He might be our best back-to-basket scorer behind LaMarcus (albeit with a huge disparity). We have two big bodies that will crash the glass and get easy put backs (Lopez and Robinson). There's no reason we should be outscored in the paint anymore. The thing about what you're saying is that it's actually perfect for our coach and roster. Attacking inside opens 3 point shooters up, and Stotts could keep his 15-20 3's per game, but less of them would be contested. This team is perfectly build to play inside out. Hopefully, we see more of that this coming season.

@ CT reading the first 3 sentences of your post I was kinda wondering what Andre Miller you were watching. Reading the rest of your post you pretty much nailed it. I think I would have added that he passed the way he thought the player liked it or could handle it  but it was always right there. He is definitely one the smartest point guards to ever have played the game. Trading him for Felton I just did not understand. Even though Felton did not want to be here he still  ain't very good in New York hope he is happy there.

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
