I like this move again... Wright averaged almost 10 points a game for Philadelphia last season, and this solidifies Batum's backup.

This is great news! Now i believe all we need is either a back up at SG or PG and maybe a veteran of some sort to hold the team down. Go Blazers!

He can defend wing players, he's as tall as Luke, he has the same career 3 pt % as Luke (across 9 seasons), he's only 28 and he only costs 3 Mill a year. Also, he consistently produces more with more minutes. I think this roster can finally have a deeper rotation without the ridiculous drop-off we've had in the past.

We have that $2.6 to use to sign what hopefully turns into a veteran pg. Wright played the point competently as well for stretches so if we needed to go with a big guard line-up, we could. Batum on Steph Curry,Wes on Klay, Dorrel on whomever. The beauty is we have options.

I guess we only have a few bucks(less then a Million) + Room Exception (around 2,6M)

Roster looks like this (or add Terrel Harris if he doesnt get waived)

    PG: D. Lillard / C.J. Mcollum

    SG: W. Mathews / A. Crabbe / W. Barton

    SF: N. Batum / D. Wright / V. Claver

    PF: L. Aldridge / T. Robinson / J. Freeland

    C: R. Lopez / M. Leonard

2 open spots for cheap backups PG and C, i guess we will sign some veterans thats what makes sense. I Think another trade may be done... Olshey is doing a good job, so if there is an oportunity to improve even more, he will do it for sure.

As of now, if the reported deals become official, the Blazers have no cap space left that would allow them to sign a player they couldn't sign over the cap.

I thought they still had 890 some thousand left, maybe I misread that earlier.

I assume they will waive Harris, and have already waived Pavlovic, so they were able to land Wright and Watson.  Cap space is officially gone.  They should be able to sign Oniel to a vet minimum or the room exception.

I checked and the figure I was thinking of was after signing Wright, now with Watson it's gone. All in all not a bad offseason so far. I think Neil did what he could do without losing valued starters or overpaying for overvalued vets in free agency. I think Thomas Robinson is going to find his game in Portland the way JJ Hickson did. At the center we got Lopez who's big enough not to get manhandled in the paint and with Meyers we have 2 7ft centers and Joel to play 3rd string center or PF as needed. Lopez has a tendency to get into foul trouble sort of like Pryzbilla did.

I hope Wright improves his shooting over last year cause 39% overall is just not going to get it done.

I think Dorrel will light it up this year. Lillard,CJ,Wesley,Batum,Crabbe,Wright, can all knock the 3. LaMarcus is going to be able to go to work in the post with shooters around him. Not to mention, we've got a damned decent crop of rebounding guards who can push the break as well. I just need Robin to be a monster on defense.

LA has the opportunity to go to work in the post last year too instead he choose to launch 18 foot jumpers.

Cmeese, it wasn't his choice, it was Coach Stotts. I don't like people blaming Aldridge. Coach had him work in a new offence, and he was amazing.

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

Then Stotts should be fired cause 18 foot jumpers are the lowest percentage shot in the NBA.

At least he is hitting them- 20 pts on 48% shooting is 12th best among PFs. But I do wish he would get back in the low post. If Stotts really wants LA shooting long jumpers over closer shots than I wouldnt mind seeing him get fired

Stotts was handed a pile of poop and you guys think that he was going to be able to make filet mignon out of it. The man did the best with what he had. Had Aldridge stayed in the post as some of you suggest, he would have taken a severe beating all season long. Despite where he got his points, he was by far still the mvp of our squad last year. With JJ grabbing boards he did what he was supposed to do. Pick and pop and pick his spots. Now with Lopez in the middle we'll see L.A. on the right block more. Playing the kind of Nowitzki game that Stotts envisioned for him all along. Its going to be very dangerous when L.A. and Lopez play a two man game, inside, outside and back inside. Lopez too has a decent jumper. The kick outs are what im going to be most anxious to see. Transition 3's when our wings run the floor. Dorell on one side, Batum on the other, bigs running down the middle and Lillard facilitating the action while also capable of knocking down 3's. Kind of like Chuancey did for Detroit and Denver. Thats why i wanted Billups as our third vet pg. Under his tutelage,Dame would get schooled correctly as to some of the cerebral nuances of the game.

Just go to LaMarcus' exit interview and listen to him talk about improving over the summer on the opposite block and extending his range. He wants to be as good as LeBron and he could. Smart guy. Our frontcourt defense was so bad last season that sometimes the backcourt didn't have a chance to adjust. LaMarcus is a valued top tier player by coaches, analysts and players. He's just mellow and doesn't have the swagger factor that draws attention to himself.

There is really very little to criticize about LA as a scorer. He isn't Durant or Melo that scores 28pts a game but as he showed a number of times last season, he can still put the ball in the hole. I agree he needs to mix it up more but after last season, teams will now need to account for him anywhere within the arc. He can shoot 18-20 foot jumpers or he can take his man inside and use his little bag of tricks like the jump hook or the fadeaway bank shot. He should continue to get about 20-21 a night and that's really all he should have to do with all our other scorers. Lillard, Batum and Wes will get double digits and our bench will be far better than the abysmal 18pts a night we had last year. So some of the workload will ease on LA.

The real improvement must come on the other end. He needs to grab more defensive rebounds!!!! He's just under 7ft and only got 8.8 boards a game. Nobody in the league averaged 20pt and 10rebs a game last season and I think the only guy outside of Kevin Love who could do it consistently is LA. Z-Bo and Pau Gasol could but they have more guys on their teams who help in those departments. LA is our premier forward and he MUST get work done on the boards.

DPickett- Lamarcus Aldridge 48FG% is ranked 12th among power forwards.. Lamarcus is gonna need to grab more boards now that he playing next to a average rebounding center in Robin Lopez.
