I was looking at some shooting stats and came across a very very alarming stat. LMA was the league leader in FGA from 16-23 feet. Not only was he the leader he was lead by a mile. His 7.3 attempts from this distance easily outpaced Demar Derozan who was number 2 on the list at 5.8 attempts per game.

LMA managed to make 41% of those attempts which is above the league average of 38.7% but is still far to low a percentage for a 2 point shot. Chris Bosh on the other hand made 53% of his 4.9 attempts per game from that distance to lead the league.

In comparison LMA finished third in FGA from 10-15 feet attempting 2.7 a night. However, he was well over the league average of 42.7% from this distance shooting a solid 49.2%.

From 3-9 feet his attempts went down to 2.3 and his percentage to a decent but not spectacular 47.9% Well behind league leader Lebron James' 60%

To find LMA FGA at the rim I had to go the middle of the second page, to find his attempts 4.1 per game a full 3.4 attempts less that league leader Greg Monroe. His 71.2 FG% from this area is well above league average.

The question I have is why is LMA shooting so many deep 2 point shots when he is clearly much better from 10-15 feet or in the paint at the rim? Was this by design? Will LMA reassert himself in the paint or has this become too much of his overall game?

Remember when Roy went out a couple of years ago, and LMA had to step up.  He played the low post and was a beast.  He was untouchable.  Question, why won't he play the low post?  When he does, no one can touch him.

You guys need to remember that Coach Stotts offense demands LA to shoot those shots, its almost the same offense Dallas used when Coach Stotts was with them. I would like Stotts to switch his calls up and put a couple of plays that puts LA in the block, but we can't have everything.

That keeps me up at night as well. I think because when he shot in the low post, he would is and back the guy down, and Stotts wants to avoid ISOs and much as possible. BUT WHY if he is so good at it? LMA is a really really smart player, and he knows how to pump fake and all that, but I think there must be a good reason. They know these stats more than me. I think that because he isn't parked down low, the big has to come out on him, freeing the lane up for Lillard.

And Cmeese, Bosh gets hand picked open jumpers for him from King James, and LMA often creates his own shot and fades away. Now doubt if he was taking the same shots as Bosh he would shoot better, and vice versa.

So we should trade Stotts, right?

I think what Stotts is doing is superb. His plays are great. I remember the only play he ever called for Meyers Leonard, against the Bobcats. Great movement, got LMA a good mid range look, got Batum a decent three look and the got Meyers way down in the post, which got him a goaltending call.

He should not leave, and DoubleDz, you are absolutely right. It's meant for a Dirk type player.

Maybe a compromise is in order. Let L.A. shoot from the perimeter in the first and third quarters and go down in the block in the second and fourth. Obviously he's going to have to take what they give him,but if he commits to that mindset,it might not be a bad thing. And since he has promised to work harder on the right block he may just add a few more things to his game. Hopefully he can start consistently knocking down the three ball.

Don't want him to start taking threes, want him to go on the block more, let Lillard take the threes.

If and when he begins to take threes,it'll be to pull out the big and let our rebounder go to work without opposition. Im not saying fall in love with the perimeter, but it'll definitely be a great asset to add to his arsenal of weapons. One of the reasons L.A. has managed to stay relatively healthy is because of his ability to mix up his game. One of his weaknesses is putting the ball on the floor. he needs to tighten that up.

Yah except Dirk made 50% from that distance this year and has range out 30 feet. LA shot 41% seems like Stotts needs a new plan.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
