Alright I talked about gutting the roster to rebuild and have even posted a couple random ideas but here is a full rebuild plan.

Lamarcus Aldridge- I posted a Chicago trade I really liked but when I thought it over the better fit was trading Batum there which I will cover right now.

Portland trades Nicolas Batum, Kostas Papanikolaou, and 3 second round picks to Bulls

Chicago trades Taj Gibson, Jimmy Butler and Richard Hamilton to the Blazers

Butler is a great defender and athlete already and is an improving offensive player as well. I look for him to emulate Paul George in a couple of seasons.  Taj Gibson is a great defender, he is unselfish and willing to do whatever the team asks of him. Hamilton is a throw in needed to match salaries and can either be kept as a back up SG or released depending on when his salary becomes guaranteed.

LA Cont. I really like Larry Sanders but to get him to Portland does not seem easy. Obviously any package for him would have to include LA but since their is a major salary difference Portland would have to take back Drew Gooden but they also might have to take back Luc Mbah a Moute as well. I certainly would not mind seeing Portland get Mbah a Moute but I am not sure Milwaukee would want to give up their two best defenders.

Portland trades Lamarcus Aldridge to the Bucks

Milwaukee trades Larry Sanders, Drew Gooden and Luc Mbah a Moute to the Blazers

    or

Portland trades Lamarcus Aldridge, Meyers Leonard and the rights to Nedzad Sinanovic to the Magic

Orlando trades Nikola Vucevic, Tobias Harris, Hedo Turkoglu and their 2013 first round pick unprotected to the Blazers

Portland might have to eat Turkoglu's salary to make this trade happen since this would allow Orlando to save Howard's trade exception to make a splash in free agency. I think Leonard is needed for Orlando to consider giving up Vucevic. Portland could then waive Turkoglu who would still cost us 6 million but we would open up more cap room. They can also cut Richard Hamilton.

Portland trades Joel Freeland and 3 million to the Suns

Phoenix trades pick #57 to the Blazers

This gives us a 3 million dollar trade exception and opens up more cap space as well. The Suns do not mind cause we paid Freeland's salary this year.

    Roster recap with Orlando trade

    PG Damian Lillard

    SG Wesley Matthews

    SG Will Barton

    SF Jimmy Butler

    SF Tobias Harris

    SF Victor Claver

    PF Taj Gibson

    C Nikola Vucevic

After those trades we are set at SF with the great defense of Butler and the rebounding and scoring of Harris with Claver adding depth. We still need SG depth, a back up PG, and some front court depth.

I got one last trade to shore up the team.

Portland trades Wesley Matthews, pick #1 or #2 and pick #10 in the NBA draft to the Bucks

Milwaukee trades Larry Sanders, and Luc Mbah a Moute to the Blazers

Obviously I would like to receive a future first or the Bucks pick #15 here as well but getting Larry Sanders would be huge.

    Going into free agency Roster

    PG Damian Lillard

    SG Will Barton

    SF Jimmy Butler

    SF Tobias Harris

    SF Victor Claver

    SF/PF Luc Mbah a Moute

    PF Taj Gibson

    PF/C Larry Sanders

    C Nikola Vucevic

Right now Lillard and Harris represent the only real scorers on this team so signing a shoot guard this summer would be the top priority. By trading Freeland and cutting Turkoglu Portland gained 9 million in cap space bring the total to around 20 million the total drops to 18 if we get the 15th pick.

For that money there is a couple players I would like to see Portland sign.

Tyreke Evans and Tony Allen. Evans can score, pass, rebound and handle the ball while Allen brings toughness, defense and leadership. This would shore up the shooting guard position and allow us to mix offense and defense quite effectively. Add in a back up PG like Maynor or CJ Watson and we are set.

PG Lillard/ Maynor or Watson or FA

    SG Evans/ Allen/ Barton

    SF Butler/ Harris/ Claver

    PF Gibson/ Sanders/ Mbah a Moute

    C Vucevic

This team has elite defenders all over in Allen, Butler, Gibson, Sanders and Mbah a Moute. They would win a lot of rebounding battles as well. Lillard, Evans and Harris would lead the scoring but the points would be fairly balanced as Sanders and Vucevic should be able to average 10 points per game.

What do you think of my rebuild.

i don't like it period. the only core 4 left is damian lillard, we should have gotten to the playoff if it haven't for freeland injure batum. i like larry sanders, but i would trade hickson, 10th pick and 3 million dollars for larry and a 2nd round pick. we then trade 2 2nd round pick for 2 million cash. then we sign jarrett jack to 6.5 million to bring veteran and scoring and passing off the bench. he a better option since he is a veteran. i would sign o'neal and dalembert to help our interior defense and mentor aldridge, leonard, and freeland some good defense. i would sign alan anderson to bring a proven back up sf for batum. sign maynor and mills.

    lillard/maynor/mills

    wesley/jack/barton

    batum/anderson/claver

    aldridge/dalembert/freeland

    sanders/leonard/o'neal

this team is ways better then yours. i did this without trading or giving up any of our core 4and we got a good C to the team so it would be a Dynamic 5, our bench would be better and better depth and it is filled with veteran. thank me later Rip City

That seems like cmeese team haha

Gibson, Allen, Butler, Sanders, Mbah a Moute are all elite defenders

Cool idea but less that 1% chance of any of that happening

Cmeese big work there... i like most of it... But if getting a quality center would be hard... you get 2 there...  the team would miss Aldridge a LOT! Chicago letting Butler go? dont think so, the same with Vucevic and Harris in Orlando, since they are young and they are their main pieces right now... And altough it is overall a good team, there almost anyone left from this year´s roster, and they would need a lot of time to get it going.

Most of us "love" to make fantasy roster´s D. Lillard, for example makes 2/3 a day lol changing just a few names according to the latest coments.

I think we need to get real. Tony Allen said he wouldnt mind coming to Portland, and that Olshey could get some players, due to his good conections.

So My Roster would be (yes i like to make rosters too lool) Easy things 1st... sign Tony Allen, Nick Young (Olshey signed him to the Clippers), Jermaine O´Neal (said he would like to come back) I would use Mathews + rights to K. Papanikolaou + picks to trade for a Center . The trade i would do would be Mathews ed trade our 10th pick for a top20pick,+ Papanikolaou + 10th pick for the Bucks, and we get Sanders + Mba a Moute + 15th pick(to use on Dieng)

PG: Lillard / Maynor / Vet min

SG: (Tony Allen) / (Nick Young) / Barton

SF: Nick Batum / (Mbah a Moute) / Claver

PF: Aldridge / (Gorgui Dieng)/ Freeland

    C: (Larry Sanders)/ Leonard / (Jermaine O´Neal)

Very complete team, strong starting 5, good deph mixing experienced players with some young players..

I like both DamianLillard's and Nuno's rosters. Cmeese defensively we would be studs but then a problem comes that where do we generate offense outside of Damian and possibly Tyreke and Tobias, but those two are just maybes.

For cmeese's team Harris averaged 16 in march and almost 20 in April starting. Evans is good for 15 a night for sure. Bump Lillard up to 10 and that is at least 50 from 3 players. Add 20 from Sanders and Vucevic that is 70. We still have Watson, Butler, Allen, Claver and Gibson if they can produce 25 -30 points with that defense that should be plenty.

If we are looking for more offense Butler has shown an ability to play the shooting guard position, since Allen will be in high demand around the league we could go after someone like Kyle Korver to be the back up SF. Korver is lethal from downtown and his presence on the court would certainly open up passing lanes for Lillard and Evans.

Anyone watch the Bulls game last night got to love what you see from Butler he guarded Deron most of the game and held him in check. 2 of Deron's 5 makes came in the first before Butler switched onto him. Butler held him to 3-10 shooting. Pretty good plus he scored 17 points on his own.

I did :-) I realize my team does not have an elite scorer outside of Lillard but neither did the Bulls when they were title contenders last year with Rose.

Getting young elite defenders is much harder to do than finding someone who can score a few points.

easy, sign jarrett jack, tony allen, patrick mills, o'neal, and alan anderson. we draft dieng, ryan kelly and trade 1 2nd round pick and freeland for 3 million cash.

    lillard/jack/mills

    allen/wesley/barton

    batum/anderson/claver

    aldridge/dieng/kelly

    leonard/o'neal/dieng

we get the same productions from the starters but more steal from allen. our bench would be the best in the nba, we would probably get 45 points from them, we also get 2 6th man of the year candidates in jack and matthews. o'neal can gives leonard useful advice throughout the season on how to be a shot-blocking machine. lillard would be a better defender then this season. i think we can get to 4-6 seed in west with a line up like this

I think that if we can get Jack it would be an immediate upgrade over Maynor. I've maintained that we need a veteran to help out our second unit and he has been one of the guys who I feel is perfect for that role. We really don't need to completely rebuild this team. We need to rebuild our bench and develop that winning habit among the younger players especially.

What about getting a guy like Ed Davis? I think he really hasn't been given a fair run in Toronto and is now hardly a bit part player in Memphis. He could possibly be a decent back up to LA and we could still get Jermaine Oneal to help tutor both him and Meyers...

well with 15 million cash since i trade freeland and 1 2nd round pick for 3 million cash. add that with 12 million, that give me 15 million.  i would sign jack to 4 years and 6 million per year, allen get 4 years and 6.5 million per year. sign anderson to 3 year and 1 million, o'neal to 2 years and 1 million per year. sign mills to 3 years and 500k per year. that how i figure out how to get all these guy. i know i change roster every other 2 comment, but i am just giving idea on how our roster should look like

Here i´m with one more fantasy roster...After reading, thinking in some different ideas...

1st Use Freeland + every pick needed to trade(even Papanikolaou´s rights) for Javale Mcgee, because i think he along with LA could be a big Threat!

2nd Sign some reliable backup PG (Jose Calderon) to take some pressure off Lillard and allow him to rest some time, and eventually help claver to develop even further,  and SG/SF(Dorrel Wright) that can play reasonable defense and that can also score when needed, either long range or attack the rim or even assist other players. Leaving no cap left...

3rd To Finish sign 2 vets with the room exception a SG (D. Wilkins) to backup Wes and menthor the other young wings and PF/C (Jermaine O´Neal) to backup our starting bigs and help develop the young bigs like Leonard and the new signing Mcgee, that i think will really enjoy having a very experienced center to help him become the defensive beast we need him to be. Eventually sign some more vets for vet min contracts...

    Final Lineup

    PG: D. Lillard / J. Calderon

    SG: W. Mathews/ D. Wilkins / W. Barton

    SF: N. Batum / D. Wright / V. Claver

    PF: L. Aldridge / J. O´Neal / Claver

    C: J. Mcgee / M. Leonard / O´Neal

Strong starting 5, and a mix of experiene and young talents in the rotation.

Tony Allen would be my first choice as our 2 guard.Gerald Henderson would be worth looking into going after also.

Ed Davis was a good rookie with his 7 points and 7 rebounds a night. And another good young big man is maybe what we need. Dorrell Wright with his size and athletic ability would be a solid guy off the bench!! He can shoot the 3 and is more than dependable at the stripe! And after 9 years in the NBA he has a veteran presence.

What about Spencer Hawes. I think he might be looking to get away from Philly and with his ability to stretch the floor he could be just the guy to replace Hickson in our front court. He's a low maintenance guy with a good game. And he's a really good passer for a big man. In Stotts offense we need good ball movement and Hawes, while nt a star, or an all star, could be the missing piece in our starting 5.

Can Claver play as PF? I know he has the size at 6'9 to play there if we play small. But he isn't a great defender and is a terrible shooter based on his work this season. He could be more of what we had in Luke Babbitt if he can improve his outside shot.

He will need to be more dependable with his shot next season because he isn't really athletic and he is not a great defender. He could be much better is he either develops that outside shot and becomes an option on offense or if he adds some weight and could attack the offensive glass...
