Following last nights loss to the Hawks 96-92 in Philips Arena, a game that Kobe "Jellybean" Bryant had a chance to tie in the waining moments with a jumper, the Laker Mega-Star had this to say on Twitter...

"dangerous play that should have been called.  Period."  Kobe is referring to the defender, Donte Jones closing out with a hand up as he released the ball, claiming that Jones intentionally undercut him subsequently causing the ankle injury that now has him doubtful for tomorrows match up with the Pacers.

He later took to Twiiter again, adding "He knows what he did and anyone with half a brain can see it.  I don't want it to happen to anyone else!"

In a post game interview, Kobe was asked about the play and responded, "the league has to protect shooters".

You mean...like this?  Notice the unobstructed view the baseline official has as Kobe mistakens Lillard's head for the basketball.  Sour grapes?  Maybe.  Justice?  Absolutely.  What comes around goes around KB.

Well in this case I kinda have to agree with Kobe, Dahntay Jones has been a dirty player for a long time, anyone who watched the 2009 western conferance finals knows there were several plays where Jones intentionally tried to hurt Bryant so there is also a history between the two

Seems like it's taken about 10 years to get from 25 to 30 wins. Hope tonights the night! Also hope they show a video montage pre game of Raymond Felton highlights, dribbling off his foot, gasping for air in the huddle and finally scarfing a dozen cupcakes! Go Blazers!

Sorry, posted the last Felton on the wrong thread! I'm not a fan of dangerous defense but in fairness to Jones, Kobe has had his share of superstar calls and was kicking out Reggie Miller style on the fadeaway which is supposed to be against the rules this season. Never like to see any player hurt but if it were Kobe defending Jones would it even be a story?

I'd hardly say Dahntay Jones is anywhere near a real "dirty" player, compared to other guys on Kobe's team, but that is allll besides the point here, because Kobe kicked out his leg, and should've been called for that before the refs call anything about "protecting the shooter"... when that shooter is Kobe. They just reviewed the play on NBAtv and Chuck and the rest all agreed you can't fault Jones for it; he's trying to guard Kobe, end of story. It wasn't a "dirty play", it was just an unfortunate landing when someone tried to close you out.

Also, KOBE HAS NO GROUNDS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT CALLS, EVER. EVVVVVERRRR.

Until #8 (he will always be #8, not #24) comes out and puts up his hand and says "my bad" when he fouls someone that doesn't get called (like the clip of him slapping Dame on the head when the game was on the line, one of the worst no-calls of the season), he can keep his sludge-spewing mouth SHUT.

Bryant has so much bad-karma-build-up from his career, I wouldn't even blink if someone laid him out a la "Miller on Griffin". Kobe's gotten more protection than any other player in the league, and he's called people out more vocally than anyone I can think of when someone else complains about it... time to take some of your own medicine, #8. Hurts, don't it?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not cheering an injury, I'm just booing the player. That being said, I'd be completely happy if he didn't set foot on the court until next fall... I know it's not a real injury and he'll be back in no time, but hey, cross my fingers!

Kobe Bryant is a sniveling prima dona  whose ego needs to be brought down a peg. The NBA reviewed the play and said Kobe was wronged and should have got the call... bull-hockey! Of course they said that he is their poster boy...he needs to get it through his thick head that the only reason the fakers have a chance at the playoffs is because the refs have been helping them along. I bet he is faking his injury just to get sometime off cause hes getting old and doesn't want to admit it...watch he score fifty points next game and get every call (as he usually does anyway. ITS CALLED DEFENSE KOBE, WELCOME TO THE GAME OF BASKETBALL. I agree with you blazer247 he always kicking his legs out and never gets called for it...I guess the rules don't apply to him.

Watch the official.  Note his proximity to the play as well as his clear field of vision of said play.  Clean it up Stern, or this will be your legacy.

Kobe becomes the hypocrit I mentioned because he never owns that which he is, or has been guilty of while using his considerable platform to speak against.

That is a pathetic example Kobe merely tapped Lillard on the head it was hardly malicious or resulted in an injury.

Plus it is not like these two don't have a history http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6BWYMjTs3c that is epitome of a dirty play. He also had around 5-6 other cheap shots in this series including blatant shoves in the back and a bunch of other crap.

Kobe had clearly beaten Jones and released the ball before Jones made contact there is no I was trying to defend the guy here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2kRFYW3k-M he got under him on purpose simple as that.

Comparing this foul to the Kobe head tap of Lillard is embarrassing.

Jeremy Lamb? I definitely think he was buried in OKC''s bench, so i don''t know how good he really is. I know he is amazing in 2K though.

Haha, I am a bit I guess, I love Meyers, but I ain''t blind. Henson is way better than Leonard, and will be better than Sanders, and Ibaka, and most PF/C in the league soon.

Thing is, Henson does not intimidate people. He''s probably the ni...

Sanders better shotblocker, better dunker and around the rim, Asik better defensively. I think Asik will have the better career.
