Trail Blazers (27-31) Vs. Bobcats (13-46)

    What To Watch For

    Taking Care Of Business
To be successful in the NBA, you must beat the teams you're supposed to beat, such as the case when the Trail Blazers take on the Charlotte Bobcats - owners of the NBA's worst record. Now, we all know Portland doesn't have the best track record when it comes to playing lottery bound teams. We've seen the losses against the Suns, Kings, Hornets, Wizards, and so on. It even took an 18-point comeback with 5 minutes to go in the 4th quarter to beat this same Bobcat earlier this season. But this game looms large as it's the final home game before the team hits the road for a difficult three-game road trip against Memphis, San Antonio, and New Orleans. The key for Portland will be to come out assertive, aggressive, and energized right from the jump. If they can do this and put the Bobcats in a double-digit hole after the first quarter, a lot of the starters should get some much needed rest and the team a much needed win.

    Small Ball
In their comeback against Charlotte back on December 3rd, it was a smaller than usual Trail Blazers lineup that led to the Rip City rally. LaMarcus Aldridge led the way at center with Luke Babbitt manning down the other post position. But Luke hasn't seen more than 11 minutes of action since the New Orleans game, which took place before the All-Star break. Also, JJ Hickson has been a terror down low lately as he's currently on a five-game double-double streak. So what's Coach Stotts to do? If the team starts out slow, look for Coach to go back to the smaller lineup but if Babbitt doesn't get the call off the bench, it could be Victor Claver who has been playing a lot of stretch-four lately.

Luke Babbit is out recycling his sandals or something. If its small ball you want its going to be Maynor and Lillard in the backcourt wreaking havoc. They have to outplay Walker and Gordon. From tip. The X factor is who it always is...Wesley " Get after it " Matthews. Meyers looks like he's itching to rip the rim down. Might as well be on Charlotte. This game can e a momentum builder or a season ender. We'll see soon enough.

I hope the bench is ready because if we beat the T-Wolves I have a feeling we are gonna play down to our competition I want this team to blow these "Cats" out but, the way this season has gone that's unlikely so I expect a close game or a come from behind victory we'll see maybe the Blazers will surprise me.

Bobcats just got stomped by Utah. They lost by 30. I'll take a 2 point win over a 30, as long as we win.

Back on Dec 3rd when these two last met, Portland allowed Ben Gordon to go 8-12 from behind the arc, thus the 18 point hole Dustin referenced in his opening, and the overtime that was necessary for the win.  Starters played 40+ minutes and the bench actually contributed, Barton netting 7.  With the way Leonard has played of late, I'd expect an increased role and more rest for JJ.  Defend the arc, and again limit TOs (13 on Dec 3rd).  Am going to love the day when this Blazer team learns to play inside-out, but that day is not today.

Great performance by P-Town. Stayed on the offensive, moved the ball well. Played good defense. Good win guys!

Claver will make a great squad player when he develops his outside shot. His size is an asset because he can guard SF and stretch 4s. If he can be a better rebounder and add a post move to his game we could be looking at a possible answer to our f...

Oden was definitely the best pick coming out of high school and arguably ahead of Durant in the 2007 draft. But the draft is art not science and we really needed a dominant center at the time. If we can get Oden for a short term low-risk deal. Lik...

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
